Women in Takoma Park dies after being struck by SUV

A woman died late March 25 after being struck earlier in the day by a sports utility vehicle that veered off of New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park, according to police.

The woman, Maria Martinez Fletcher, 51, of the 13800 block of Carter House Way in Silver Spring, was standing in front of the Red Apple Farmers Market on 7645 New Hampshire Ave. around 6 p.m., when a 2004 Range Rover driven by Kaddie Kallon, 40, of the 9100 block of Edmonston Road in Greenbelt went out of control for unknown reasons, according to Montgomery County Police.

The Range Rover struck Fletcher and two parked vehicles, police said.
