Police Report

The following is a summary of incidents to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words ‘‘arrested” and ‘‘charged” do not imply guilt.

Rockville District

Aggravated assault

*On March 15: At 2 p.m. at the 7-11 store, 250 Derwood Circle in Rockville. The suspect had attempted to steal a bottle of soda. When an employee confronted him outside the store, the suspect struck the victim with the soda bottle. The suspect, a 23-year-old homeless man, was arrested nearby.


*Between noon on March 11 and 10 a.m. March 12, the 300 block of Rutgers Street in Rockville. Words were found spray painted on an exterior wall of a residence.

Shots fired

*On March 13: At 3:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired at the rear of the 7-11 store, 13251 Atlantic Ave. in Rockville. They did not find any victims or suspects but did find shell casings.


*Veirs Mill Road and First Street in Rockville, reported on March 17. Equipment reported missing from a construction site.


*On March 16: At approximately 11:53 p.m. at McDonalds, 1902 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville. An employee heard a loud noise and went to investigate. He found the towel dispenser broken and graffiti written all over the bathroom.

Vehicle larceny

*12900 block of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville between the evening of March 12 and 7 a.m. on March 13. Equipment stolen from a 1997 Honda Prelude.

*King Farm area of Rockville, between March 11 and March 19. Entry forced in two instances, and in one instance a door was left unlocked. Property was taken in four instances.

*1801 Research Boulevard in Rockville at 2:08 p.m. on March 12. A witness saw a suspect force entry and take property. The suspect fled in a red 4-door Honda with Maryland tags. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160-190 pounds.

*12100 block of Devilwood Drive in Potomac, between 8:30 p.m. on March 12 and 5 a.m. on March 13. Unknown entry, vehicle searched; nothing taken.

*12000 block of Smoketree Road in Potomac between 8:30 p.m. on March 12 and 7:45 a.m. on March 13. Unknown entry, vehicle searched; nothing taken.

Commercial burglary

*Southlawn Restaurant, 663 Loftstrand Lane in Rockville. Officers responded for an alarm at 8:15 p.m. on March 18. Forced entry attempted.

*Atlantic Recycling Group, 30 W. Gude Drive in Rockville, between 4:30 p.m. on March 13 and 6:45 a.m. on March 14. Forced entry; property taken.

*Doctor’s office, 2401 Research Blvd. in Rockville, between 6 p.m. on March 11 and 7:30 a.m. on March 12. Forced entry; property taken.

Residential burglary

*200 block of Highland Avenue in Rockville, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 11. Forced entry; property taken. The suspects were described as two black males, 17-18, 5 feet 10 inches tall, medium build, one with a red sweater.

*600 block of Great Falls Road in Rockville between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on March 13. Forced entry; property taken.

*200 block of North Horners Lane in Rockville between 7 p.m. and 7:27 p.m. on March 14. The suspect, a 27-year-old man known to the resident, was intoxicated and rang her doorbell. When she refused to let him in, he broke a window and attempted to enter the house. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

*Autumn Wind Way in Rockville between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on March 15. The victim left the garage door open and both unlocked vehicles in the garage were searched. An attempt was made to take equipment from one vehicle, but the suspect(s) were unable to remove it.

*100 block of Watkins Pond Boulevard in Rockville, between 6:30 p.m. on March 16 at and 7:30 a.m. on March 17. Forced entry. The garage and the unlocked vehicle inside were searched. Property taken from the vehicle.

*200 block of Cork Tree Lane in Rockville on March 17. Unknown entry; unknown if property taken.

*3000 block of Windy Knoll Court in Rockville at noon on March 18. The victim was home and saw the suspect trying to gain entry. The suspect fled on foot after being interrupted.

*Unit block of Feather Rock Place in Rockville, between noon and 1 p.m. on March 18. Attempted forced entry; no entry was made.

Gaithersburg District

Theft⁄purse snatching

*On March 13: At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Beacon Square Court in Gaithersburg. An arrest was made nearby on Sioux Lane resulting in the recovery of property. A 17-year-old male from Gaithersburg was arrested.
