The Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board seeks candidates to fill a business representative vacancy.

Applications with a brief resume and letter of interest must be submitted by April 11 to or to County Executive Isiah Leggett, Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville, MD 20850.

Appointments must be confirmed by the Montgomery County Council.

The 15-member board represents residential and business communities of Bethesda, Cabin John, Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights, Garrett Park, Glen Echo, North Bethesda and Potomac. The board advises county officials and lawmakers on transportation, environment, public safety and services and other local issues.

Applicants would serve a volunteer three-year term. Members give about six hours per month attending board and committee meetings. The board meets at 7 p.m. every third Monday of the month.

Volunteers sought for food drive next month

The Manna Food Center will hold a ‘‘Stuff-A-Bus” food collection event from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on May 14 at Whole Foods Markets including the downcounty location at 5269 River Road, Bethesda. Other participating stores are in Gaithersburg, Rockville and Silver Spring.

Manna is seeking volunteers for the event. To sign up or learn more, e-mail or call 301-424-1130.

Shoppers will be urged to fill Ride On buses with non-perishable food items purchased at Whole Foods Markets. Manna staff and volunteers will help bag groceries inside the stores and load the buses with food donations.

Whole Foods will also donate 5 percent of those stores’ sales to the center.
