Jacquelyn Pettit

Jacquelyn R. Pettit, 80, of Gaithersburg died March 29 of heart complications at Montgomery General Hospital.

Born Dec. 14, 1927, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late William N. and Marjorie Runkle. She was the former wife of the late John H. Pettit.

Mrs. Pettit held a master’s degree in English.

Survivors include four children, Richard Pettit and wife Carole of Derwood, Lynne Pettit and husband Patrick Kelly of Gaithersburg, Steve Pettit and wife Laura of Glenwood, and Jeanne Pettit and husband Douglas Jenkins of Gaithersburg; two sisters, Patricia Sherwood of Olney and Barbara Brown of Willards; and six grandchildren.

Viewing will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road,.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6701 Muncaster Mill Road, Derwood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
