Happy to be here, in caring county

I moved to Washington, D.C., right after college more than 27 years ago, but only recently (three years ago) moved to Montgomery County, and what a pleasure!

To be in a place where the vast majority of the wealthy are willing to tax themselves to achieve progressive values like government assisting those most in need, like giving everyone an equal opportunity in education, and valuing differences be they race, class, religion or gender identity.

A 9-0 vote by our County Council expressing a level of caring and sensitivity to our transgendered population tells me I am exactly where I need to be and that a vast majority of county residents share these sentiments.

It is rare that politicians get out in front of their constituency, but we can praise them when they listen to us.
