Celebrants ringing in spring Sunday at Black Hill Regional Park are asked to carpool to the 16th annual Sizdah Bedar festival to help the flow of traffic.

Nearly 6,000 people gathered at the Boyds park last year for the annual celebration, a spring festival held on the thirteenth day of the Persian year. That number was double the 2006 attendance. This year’s event, hosted by the American Civic Society, will feature food, music, dancing and cultural activities and be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park, located at 20920 Lake Ridge Drive.

Park Police may close the entrance to the park from West Old Baltimore Road during the free public event, though the road itself will remain open, according to a county Parks Department release. Parking and pedestrian traffic will not be allowed on West Old Baltimore Road.

For more information about possible closures, call Park Police at 301-601-2988. For more information about the event, visit⁄friends⁄events⁄212.
