County police are investigating a robbery that took place Monday morning at BB&T Bank, located at 9815 Main St. in Damascus.

There were no reports of injury, police said.

A man entered the bank just before 9:30 a.m., approached a teller and demanded money, implying he had a weapon, police said. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Lucille Baur, a county police spokeswoman, said the robber ran away in an unknown direction.

The FBI is working with police to investigate the crime.

The robber is described as black, 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 5 inches tall, in his 30s, with a heavy build and a mustache, police said. He was wearing a black uniform shirt and pants.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Division’s Robbery Section at 240-773-5100. Callers can remain anonymous.
