The Our Lady of Good Counsel High School Mother’s Club will offer the opportunity to tour five area homes on Saturday as part of a fundraising effort for the Olney school.

This is the first year for the school’s Spring House Tour and Marketplace, which organizers hope will become an annual event.

‘‘We thought this was something that people would enjoy doing, both members of the Good Counsel community and the community at large,” event chairwoman Mo Jester said. ‘‘My hope is to make this big and a lot of fun, and to reach beyond Good Counsel.”

The self-guided tour includes the Sherman and Kelly homes in Sandy Spring, the Willson home in Brookeville, the Mattingly home in Woodbine, and the Cazeres home in Rockville.

‘‘Each is different in its own way, but they are all just beautiful,” Jester said. ‘‘Some have beautiful architecture, others have impressive landscaping and outdoor entertaining areas, and some have really nice home theaters. Each house has something different to offer.”

Homes may be toured from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are available on the Web site at for $25, or at the door for $30. Tickets will be sold until 5 p.m. Saturday.

To accompany the tour, the Good Counsel dining hall will be transformed into a Marketplace and Café from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Marketplace will feature more than 30 specialty boutiques, offering a variety of items including jewelry, accessories, ceramics, home decor, designer clothing and gift items.

Breakfast, lunch and baked good will be sold at an additional cost, along with lunches to take along on the tour.

All money raised will go towards financial aid to help students attend Our Lady of Good Counsel. Approximately 25 percent to 30 percent of the school’s 1,200 students benefit from the financial assistance program.
