Coach of the Year

Ivan Hicks

Gaithersburg, third year

In his third season, led Trojans to first-ever state championship game appearance. Meshed group of talented individuals into a team that consistently had nine or more players contribuiting offensively and held opponents to 42.2 points per game.

Player of the Year

Kaili McLaren

Good Counsel, Sr., C

Two-time POY guided Falcons (26-8) to back-to-back WCAC and City Title Game championships, compiling 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game on the season. Produced triple-double — 21 points, 23 boards and 10 blocks — vs. McNamara in WCAC final.

nKathleen BrownWhitman, Sr., F

Controlled the post for the Vikings, averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game. Both marks were tops on the team.

nDeniese CampbellKennedy, Sr., G

Five-foot-2 guard led the team in scoring (19.3 ppg) and was the engine that propelled the Cavaliers to 20-4 season.

nAlex ChiliWalter Johnson, Soph., G

Sophomore sensation led public-school girls in scoring, with 22.9 points per game. Also converted 93.1 percent of her attempts from the free-throw line.

nLaTanya CopelandGaithersburg, Sr., C

Seton Hall-bound post player starred for three years at Gaithersburg and helped lead Trojans to state title game, averaging 16.7 points and 9.0 rebounds on the season.

nErin HawkinsBullis, Sr., G

Cog in Bulldogs’ offense tallied 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3 steals per game to help team to the ISL regular-season banner and season-ending tournament title. Will play for Richmond on scholarship next year.

nNalini HawkinsBethesda-Chevy Chase, Jr., G

Indisputably one of the most dynamic offensive players in the county, averaged 21.2 points per game and was held to single digits just once.

nJudie LomaxBullis, Sr., F

With the ball in Oregon State-bound forward’s hand, Bullis was almost certain to score. Used her versatility, 5-foot-10 frame and intensity to rack up 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2.5 assists per game to lead Bulldogs to ISL title.

nCorinne OwensMagruder, Sr., G⁄F

Did a little bit of everything for Colonels, averaging 18.9 points and 4.8 rebounds, garnering the attention of several mid-major Division I programs.

nCate RassmanBlair, Sr., G⁄F

One of the top scorers in the county for a struggling team, she averaged 18.8 points and 8.7 rebounds a game despite being the focus of every defense she faced.

Led Devils back to state semis with 12.3 points, 6 rebounds per game.

Talareah FrazierGaithersburg, Sr., G

Emotional floor general was engine that drove Trojans to state title game.

Porche GrantHoly Cross, Sr., F

South Florida signee ripped down 12.5 rebounds and scored 8 points a contest.

Devin GreenNorthwest, Fr., F

Averaged 16.4 points and 11.1 rebounds for an improving Jaguars squad.

Ellen MarshallCovenant Life, Jr., F

PVAC’s top player tallied 23 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists per game.

Briana McFaddenGood Counsel, Sr., G

Holy Cross-bound guard scored 11.7 points per game for WCAC champs.

Monica McNuttHoly Cross, Jr., F

Averaged 11 points, 6 rebounds for private school tournament champs.

Kateyln PossPoolesville, Sr., F

Averaged 13 points,10 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 2.5 steals per contest.

Lindsay WeinerWootton, Jr., G

Proved one of county’s best perimeter scoring threats, at 15.8 per game.

Morgan WrightsonDamascus, Soph., F

Averaged 16.5 points, 5 boards for only county team to beat Gaithersburg.
