Shanel Harrison, Good Counsel, Jr., G⁄F, Where’s Shanel? Opponents rarely knew because the versatile junior routinely played multiple positions, and played them well, in games. Contributed 14.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 blocks and 2 steals per game.

First team

* Erin Brown, Whitman, Sr., F, Developed into one of county’s most imposing post presences this year. Led team in scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding, including 13 in the 4A state semifinals against Eleanor Roosevelt.

* Taryn Christian, Springbrook, Sr., G, Possesses every skill a point guard should have. Averaged 13.1 points per game despite a pass-first nature, and was the Blue Devils’ best defender.

* Robin Colbert, Holy Cross, Sr., G, The force that drove the Tartans’ machine at the point guard spot, averaging 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals per game.

* Carole Dempsey, Churchill, Sr., G⁄F, Sparkplug of Bulldogs’ offense, led team in scoring with 15.7 points per game. Also racked up 3.5 steals and 5.6 rebounds per game.

* Deven Green ,Northwest, Soph., F, Arguably the most polished low-post player in the county. Averaged a double-double (16.2 ppg, 10 rpg) and reached double figures in scoring in every game.

* Nalini Hawkins, Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Sr., G, Repeat first-teamer averaged 21.2 points, tops among county girls. Patriot League recruit scored 1,424 points in noteworthy four-year varsity career.

* Tarik Hislop, Paint Branch, Soph., G, Unusually athletic floor general did it all, leading team with 17 points per game. Was also tops in assists and steals while leading Panthers to a regional championship.

* Monica McNutt, Holy Cross, Sr., F, Georgetown University-bound forward produced 12 points and 11 rebounds a game as the team’s best low-post player. Had ability to knock down three-pointers as well.

* Claire Wheeler, Good Counsel, Sr., F, Harvard signee transformed herself into one of the area’s best players with ability to score (14.0 ppg), rebound (10.9 rpg) and block shots (2.9 bpg).

Second team

* Jacquelyn Adcock, Damascus, Sr., F, Double-threat forward played both the perimeter and low post equally well. Averaged 11.1 ppg.

* Jocelyn Bailey, Bullis, Jr., G⁄F, Did everything for Bulldogs, including handle the ball, score (16.4 ppg) and rebound (8.2 rpg).

* Alex Chili, Walter Johnson, Jr., G, Continued her position near top of county scoring list by averaging 19.2 ppg this season.

* Rocelia Cooper, Holy Child, Sr., G, Adept scorer produced 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game for Tigers (20-7).

* Porcha Davis, Richard Montgomery, Soph., F, Physical post player powered her way to 16.8 points per game.

* Brittany Poindexter, Holy Cross, Sr., G, Slashing guard thrived in team’s up-tempo style of play with 11.5 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals a game.

* Khalilah Quigley, Paint Branch, Soph., F⁄C, Second part of Panthers’ great one-two punch averaged 16.8 points per game.

* Juliette Turner, Kennedy, Jr., F, Emerged as consistent scorer, averaging 15.4 ppg for the up-and-coming Cavaliers.

* Molly Wannen, Blake, Sr., G, As playoffs wore on Wannen (10.2 ppg for the season) heated up. Led Bengals in scoring at states.

* Lindsay Weiner, Wootton, Sr., G, Helped Wootton to best season in more than 10 years with team-high 12.5 points per game.
