Howell brings ‘true grassroots leadership’

The special election for County Council representative for our area is Tuesday. Very few people usually come out to vote for special elections — there’s only one office up for election, it’s at a weird time, and it’s just not on most voters’ radar screens. But the person who becomes our next councilman is likely to be in office for the next 13 years — the three years remaining in this term, plus two more four-year terms (which is the term limit).

It’s really important that we elect someone who is smart, knows what is going on in the county and can work with the other council members to be effective for the Fifth District.

I believe that person is Adrion Howell.

Adrion is an attorney (Howard University Law School), has extensive experience on Capitol Hill (legislative aide to Congressman Charles Rangel and Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and legislative counsel on the House Ways and Means Committee) and has served as the legislative liaison to the Prince George’s County Council. He is also the past president of his homeowners’ association — true grassroots leadership.

There is no other candidate with Adrion’s qualifications, not even close.

Turnout will be critical. I urge you to go to your usual polling place on Tuesday, — same place you cast your vote a few short weeks ago for Barack Obama — and cast one more for Adrion Howell.

If you’d like to know more about Adrion, go to www.HowellforCouncil.com and read all about him.
