Ortiz has earned a council seatI am supporting Adam Ortiz for county councilman. As our mayor, Adam proved his qualification for higher office with his extraordinary representation and hard work through the difficult times we experienced. Two major floods devastated part of our community: first because the pumping station was not properly manned, and the second time because of a power failure. This second flood occurred because the county had not followed through on its promise to install auxiliary pumps and generators. These floods destroyed my furnace, washer, dryer and hot water heater twice. I was eventually reimbursed by the county for both floods. This occurred because one man went to bat for us, pleading our case to the appropriate parties. This man was Adam Ortiz. Because of Adam’s pressure and urging, our town now has a new, state-of-the-art $6 million pumping station. Adam has also shown his ability to manage a jurisdiction with his knowledge of governmental functions. By uniting our warring factions, Adam transformed an inept, Andy Griffith-style ‘‘Mayberry” to an orderly, financially solvent town government.
