C-Mart to closeLandover store

Brand-name discounterC-Mart has announced plans to close the Landover store it opened in February 2007 to focus on expanding its Web business. No closing date has been set.

The store, which has 30 employees, will close ‘‘when all the inventory is sold,” said co-owner Brad Bondroff. A half-off liquidation sale starts Friday.

Radio One to sellanother station

Radio One of Lanham plans to sell its Los Angeles station to Bonneville International of Salt Lake City for $137.5 million. The deal is expected to close during the second quarter.

‘‘We expect to use the proceeds from this transaction to reduce our leverage, accelerate our internet strategy and re-commence a limited buy-back of our securities,” said Alfred C. Liggins III, CEO and president, in a statement.

Professor recognizedfor innovative efforts

David Barbe, professor of electrical and computer engineering and executive director of the University of Maryland’s MarylandTechnology Enterprise Institute in College Park, has received the 2008 Lifetime of Educational Innovation Award from Olympus.

The award was presented at the recent 12th annual meeting of the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance, a partner in conducting the Olympus Innovation Awards Program in Dallas.
