Bozzuto Management wins national honor again
The National Association of Home Builders has named Bozzuto Management Co. of Greenbelt its Property Management Company of the Year for the second time. The award, which Bozzuto Management first received in 2000, recognizes "superior leadership" in multifamily housing property management.
"This award belongs to all Bozzuto Management Company employees, whose passion for excellence translates into top-notch customer service, creative marketing, outstanding resident retention and satisfied clients," Julie Smith, president, said in a statement.
Bozzuto Management is part of The Bozzuto Group, which has developed, acquired and built more than 31,000 homes and apartments since 1988.
Prince George's Art Council names new director
The Prince George's Art Council in Hyattsville has named Lionelle Thomas executive director. The nonprofit is the county's official representative of the arts and provides funds and technical assistance to artists and organizations.
Thomas, formerly interim executive director of the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, has two decades of experience in the arts.
The Arc names new director
The Arc of Prince George's has named Penny Green associate executive director of residential programs. The Arc provides support services to more than 600 people with developmental disabilities, as well as their families and personal support groups.
Green has worked at the Arc since 1999 and has a master's in psychology from Bowie State University.
Marriott security guard is Officer of the Year
Jimmie Plummer, loss prevention supervisor for the Greenbelt Marriott, was named the Maryland Hotel & Lodging Association's Security Officer of the Year for 2008.
Plummer has been at the hotel for 16 years. He previously worked in employee relations for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and served in the Air Force for 24 years. He was nominated for his dedication to the job and knowledge of a wide range of security issues both inside and outside the hotel, according to company information.
Greenbelt mobile company wins Maryland Lottery deal
Acuity Mobile, a Greenbelt mobile marketing provider, was selected to provide a mobile marketing initiative for the Maryland Lottery. The program offers subscribers announcements on new games, promotions and jackpots through opt-in text messages.
"Mobile devices are becoming increasingly popular and powerful," Buddy Roogow, lottery director, said in a statement. "With so many Maryland Lottery players on the go, it makes perfect sense to partner with a company like Acuity to deliver the most up-to-date Lottery news and information."
Integral to support Mitsubishi Electric
Integral Systems of Lanham was selected to support the DS2000 satellite platform for Mitsubishi Electric. Mitsubishi will use Integral's system to provide operations management for real-time monitoring and control of all satellite and ground equipment systems and functions, according to an Integral statement.
Also, SAT Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Integral, has won a contract from global satellite operator HISPASAT to upgrade its carrier monitoring systems, which track signal interference.
