Why kids opt inI noticed the March 19 article, ‘‘Sex-ed opponents abandon legal fight, turn to lawmakers,” stated that students who opt out of taking the health⁄sex education class are provided with ‘‘alternative classes.” They don’t go to a class. They go to the library or conference room to complete a lengthy packet of busy work on an unrelated topic that they struggle to even finish in the allotted time. It’s much easier to sit in a class with your friends so it’s no surprise few kids opt out. Teril Wright, Gaithersburg
