Player of the Year
Tianna Hawkins, Riverdale Baptist, Sr.
The talented forward capped her senior season by leading the Crusaders to the IAABO Tournament championship and the National Association of Christian Athletes title. The University of Maryland recruit led the Crusaders by averaging 17 points, 11.3 rebounds and two blocked shots per game and she reached double-digits in both points and rebounds in the last 17 games of the season.
Coach of the Year
Jazz Perazic, Elizabeth Seton, third season
In only her third season, Perazic guided the Roadrunners to a 24-7 mark, the third seed in the tough Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and a semifinal berth in the WCAC tournament. The Roadrunners have quickly adopted her focus of playing good defense, patient offense and passing and cutting to the basket. Most of her top players return next season for another chance at the WCAC title.
First team
Tierra Hawkins, Riverdale Baptist, Jr.
The junior was part of the Crusaders' "Twin towers" along with sister Tianna. She was second on the squad in both scoring (13 points per game) and rebounding (8.2 per game) and returns next season to anchor the two-time defending IAABO champions.
Tyuanna Marshall, Seton, Jr.
The solid junior was among the Roadrunners' leaders in scoring (15 points per game), rebounds (5.5 per game) and steals (two per game) and sparked the squad to the third seed in the WCAC and appearance in the conference semifinal.
Nakia Gorham, Flowers, Sr.
The central focus of a senior-laden Jaguars' squad, Gorham led the 18-7 team by averaging 14 points and eight rebounds per game. A solid inside presence for the Jaguars, the senior was equally strong on both ends of the court and helped Flowers reach three straight 4A South Region title games.
Endia Hill, Surrattsville, Sr.
The senior led the Hornets to their third straight 1A South Region title and an appearance in the state title game, where she scored 22 points in a losing cause against Digital Harbor. She averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game during the season, including a season-high 27 points against Fairmont Heights.
Jasmine McIntosh, Bowie, Jr.
Among the primary reasons the Bulldogs continue to improve in the tough County 4A League, the junior averaged 17.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. In addition to being a low-post presence, she also possesses the ability to shoot from the perimeter.
Jessica Lyons, Largo, So.
One of the best underclassmen in the county, the sophomore led the youthful Lions to the County 3A/2A/1A League title and the 3A South Region championship. She averaged 17.6 points per game, including a season-high 34 in the region final victory over Great Mills.
Lacie Hall, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr.
The 2008 Player of the Year was again instrumental in leading the Raiders to their fifth straight Class 4A state title. The Syracuse University recruit averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals per game in her senior season.
Olivia Applewhite, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr.
The senior anchored the low post for the Raiders, averaging 15 points, 14 rebounds and three steals per game. She had 21 double-doubles in 25 games, including a 22-point, 11-rebound effort in the state final as Roosevelt beat Blake, 67-39, to earn its fifth consecutive state championship.
Andrea Jones, Grace Brethren, Jr.
The junior led the Eagles to the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference title. She averaged 20.6 points, 6.1 steals and 3.3 assists per game, reaching 20 points on 14 occasions and the 30-point plateau twice. Jones established a school record for career points with 2,425.
