Kristen Waeber Middletown, Senior, Forward Waeber was the wheel-greaser for the Middletown state champions, scoring 31 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the final to give the Knights their first crown in more than a decade. She averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds this year. Coach of the Year William Miskell Middletown, 3rd Year In his third year as head coach for Middletown, Miskell finally reached the mountaintop, guiding the Knights to a state Class 2A championship with a 57-51 win over Milford Mill Academy. Middletown’s hardware came after a 26-1 season, putting Miskell at 67-9 for his career. First Team nMeredith TolleyUrbana, Junior, Guard⁄Forward Already the career points leader at Urbana, Tolley averaged 23.2 points and 10.1 rebounds this season in leading the Hawks to the state tournament. nCatherine MillsUrbana, Senior, Guard The glue that held together the Hawks on their run to the state tournament, Mills—17.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists per game—may be the most-missed graduating player for Urbana come next winter. nKate RobinsonCatoctin, Senior, Forward Robinson averaged a double-double for the Cougars (12.2 points, 10 rebounds) and scored the team’s first points in each playoff game from the region championship on. nHolly HavensteinLinganore, Sophomore, Center Havenstein has developed into one of the most dominant post players in the area, and at 6 feet, 2 inches, has the potential to be unguardable in the paint over the next two seasons. nSami KozlowskiLinganore, Junior, Guard Linganore will rely on Kozlowski next year to improve on her already impressive statistics. This season she averaged 14.8 points, 6.2 assists and four steals as the Lancers took another step toward states. nConnie ReginaldiNew Life, Senior, Guard Named the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference player of the year for the second time, Reginaldi averaged more than 27 points per game in leading the Rams to a MDCC title. nAmanda KinnaMiddletown, Senior, Forward “Having her back this year made all the difference,“ said Coach Miskell, singling out a player who averaged 10 points, 3.5 boards and was one of Middletown’s top defenders after returning from a knee injury. nBri SimpsonLinganore, Senior, Forward ‘‘She was something special,” Coach Brian Mathews said of Simpson, who earned the praise with 18 points, 10.8 rebounds and four steals per contest. nNia JosiahThomas Johnson, Senior, Forward Last year’s co-Player of the Year, Josiah had to do it all for the Patriots, who lost Kem Wilson mid-season. She will continue her basketball career this winter with Georgia Tech.
