Four charged in December robbery of armored carPolice have charged four men and are seeking two others in connection with a Dec. 14 attempted armed robbery of an armored car in Layhill that left a guard and at least one of the gunmen injured from gunshot wounds. Jose Garcia, 25, of the 14400 block of Taos Court in Silver Spring was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and first-degree assault. Nazario Adonai Navidad, 18, of an unknown address and Emanuel (aka Enmanuel) Tejada, 30, also of an unknown address were charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, use of a handgun in a crime of violence and conspiracy to commit all of the above. Juan Angel Hernandez-Tejada, 18, of an unknown address was charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, armed robbery, use of a handgun in a crime of violence, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, and use of a handgun in a crime of violence. All are undocumented immigrants and are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center. Garcia was arrested in January, and Navidad, Tejada and Hernandez-Tejada were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Prince William County, Va., and extradited March 14 to Montgomery County. Police also have a warrant out for Miguel A. Perez (aka Miguel Tejada), 22, of an unknown address for attempted first-degree murder, one count of armed robbery, first-degree assault, use of a handgun in a crime of violence, and conspiracy to commit all of the above. A sixth suspect, whom police believe was injured in the shootout, remains at large and police are seeking the public’s help in finding him. He is Hispanic, of medium height and build, and is believed to be in his 20s. Police say two men approached a Dunbar Armored Truck guard about 11 a.m. shortly after the guard and driver pulled up to the Bank of America at 2101 Bel Pre Road. One of the robbers had a gun and several shots were exchanged between the guard and the robbers, according to a news release from county police. No money was taken. The armored truck guard was injured in the exchange and later released from a hospital. The robbers, one of whom also was injured, ran toward a gas station on Bel Pre Road where they joined two to four other men. A silver minivan was seen leaving the area, along with a 2003 blue-green Volkswagen Jetta that was carjacked from the area. The Jetta was found later that day on Beaverwood Lane in the Strathmore Bel Pre neighborhood. The van, a Dodge Caravan, was found Dec. 18 in the 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue in the same neighborhood. The investigation, conducted by county police and the FBI, is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call police 240-773-5100.
