Open Forum: Why not ban window blinds, too?In reference to ‘‘Illegal activity is the only reason to tint car windows” (Letters, March 13): Everyone must be doing illegal acts in their homes as well, so shouldn't we take the blinds down? The justification would be the same, for the apparent safety of officers. Also, why did we forget about and trash the Constitution? I could care less about window tints. Aren't the police sworn to uphold and protect the Constitution? Since the police and members of government use tints as well, they would also be up to illegal acts. Maybe cooling a car would be one reason to tint. Furthermore, since the Constitution seems to matter so little to some elected officials, who are our servants, and now to some officers entrusted to protect the freedoms we cherish, maybe we should ban that document. Of course, the real solution would be to just ban everything. Tinted windows sound like a great place to start. Who cares if the property belongs to you. Oh, we're sorry you thought you owned your vehicle. The next time an officer sworn to protect me almost t-bones my car with no siren or lights on, I'll remember that the officer might be already assuming I'm guilty of something since he didn't see me.
