The Sportsplex Gymnastics team had four members make the state team at the 2009 Men's Maryland State Championships at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.
Christopher Junghans (Level 10) placed second on the rings, first on parallel bars, third on high bar and third all-around. Demetrius Brown (Level 8) placed second on floor, second on pommel horse, first on rings, first on vault, first on parallel bars, first on high bars and first in the all-around. Obot Ekpo (Level 7) took second on the floor, third on pommel horse, second on vault, second on high bar and second in the all-around. Miles Walker (Level 5) placed first on floor, first on pommel horse, first on still rings, second on parallel bars, first in high bar and first in the all-around.
Ethan Leveling, Christian Gray, Jesse Parham, Christian Manning, Drew Wallace, Shawn Murphy, Chase Drewery and Brandon Baskin also participated at the event.
Level 8 team takes
third place
The Sportsplex Gymnastics women's team participated in the Red Rose Invitational in Lancaster, Pa., and the Level 8 team took third place.
Khyla Anderson and Naomi Parham both led the Level 8 team with strong performances. Anderson placed second on the vault, first on beam and third on the all-around, while Parham took third on the vault. Chelsea Knight led the Level 9 team, while Jerrese Adams, Audrey Barber, Lena Gillis, Jasmyn Parham, Lauren Roach, Dasia Whigham, Victoria Hogberg, Annie Leveling and Micaela Miles were on the Level 7 team.
The Level 6 team also participated at the Red Rose Invitational. The team was led by: Marie Ann-Louis Charles, Lena Morant, Simone Murphy, Morganne Oliver, Lena Morant and Simone Murphy.
Basketball tryouts
