Arrest made for early March homicide in Landover

A District Heights man was arrested Friday for the March 5 murder of a Capitol Heights man in Landover.

Police arrested Michael Anthony Bailey Jr., 22, of the 1800 block of Gould Drive in connection with the murder of Antwon Cortez Edwards, 22, of the 1100 block of Dutton Way. Police responded about 5:18 p.m. March 5 to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Village Green Drive and discovered Edwards with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Edwards later died at a local hospital.

Cpl. Henry Tippett, a county police spokesman, said this was not a random shooting and both were acquaintances who arranged to meet at the Landover address the evening of the shooting. Reasons why the two were meeting and a motive for the shooting are still under investigation.
