Facts do not support description of group

The March 5 article, ‘‘Sex-ed opponents turn to lawmakers, refers to our group as ‘‘religious conservatives,” but those supporting us are parents and taxpayers.

How were the faith beliefs of Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum determined? How did The Gazette discern our political beliefs to reach that conclusion? A glance at our Web site (www.mcpscurriculum.com) shows no evidence to support either description.

Why label us as such? Why bestow the imprimatur of a ‘‘parents group” to the other side? CRC has thousands of parent members of all political and religious (or nonreligious) stripes. Our mission statement is quite clear; we believe ‘‘parents have the authority to guide the moral direction of their children, not the public schools.”

Also, forced teaching that homosexuality is innate is factually incorrect. You will not find one medical journal or study that supports that assertion and Montgomery County Public Schools does a disservice to students to teach them that falsehood.
