The 2006-07 All-Gazette girls indoor track and field first team. Ashlyn Decruise (Richard Montgomery, Sr., 300 meters)

Ran 40.96 seconds at Virginia Tech Invitational, fastest county time this season. Finished fourth at state meet.

Leslie Morrison (Whitman, Jr., 500, 800 meters)

Middle distance maven dominated at county and regional level. Won state silver medals in both events.

Morgane Gay (Whitman, Jr., 1,600 meters)

Best miler in Montgomery County won county and regional titles, and took silver medal at 4A⁄3A state meet.

Cara Harrison (Quince Orchard, Sr., 3,200 meters)

Winner of regional title ran strong tactical race to finish second at state event. Will run Nike Indoor National Invitational.

Churchill 4x200 relay(Michelle Gellman, Sr.; Betsey Morser, Sr.; Katie Wolf, Fr.; Audrey Gariepy-Bogui, Sr.)

Won county and regional titles before finishing third at 4A⁄3A state meet.

Walter Johnson 4x400 relay(Charline Cartoux, Sr.; Renee McClinton, Jr.; Stephanie Alberico, Sr.; Jenny McCoy, Sr.)

Came on late but made big splash with silver-medal time of 4:04.50 at states.

Whitman 4x800 relay(Morgane Gay, Jr.; Debbie Isen, Sr.; Gabrielle MacKenzie, Sr.; Leslie Morrison, Jr.)

Won county and regional titles with ease before dusting old foe Eleanor Roosevelt to win state gold by almost 10 seconds.

Arleigh Rose (Sherwood, Jr., Shot put)

Had area’s longest throw of season to win county championship. Also won silver medal at 4A⁄3A West Region meet.

1,600 meters — Halsey Sinclair (Blair, Sr.)

3,200 meters — Louise Hannallah (Churchill, Jr.) and Jenny Reid (Poolesville, Soph.)

High hurdles — Olivia Durr (Poolesville, Soph.) and Shakira Raheem (Einstein, Sr.)

4x200 relay — Richard Montgomery (Ashley Decruise, Sr.; Ashlyn Decruise, Sr.; Rianne Webb, Jr.; Iesha Jennings, Jr.)

4x400 relay — Churchill (Michelle Gellman, Sr.; Betsey Morser, Sr.; Alejandra Martinez, Jr.; Katie Wolf, Fr.)

4x800 relay — Churchill (Miriam Fikri, Fr.; Betsey Morser, Sr.; Erim McManus, Sr.; Owade Ayorinde, Jr.)

High jump — Chelsea Reinks (Damascus, Sr.)

Shot put — Cori Talley (Blake, Sr.)

Athlete of the Year

Audrey Gariepy-Bogui

(Churchill, Sr.)

After winning one state title last year, took home two this time, winning 4A⁄3A titles in 55-meter hurdles and high jump, tying state record in latter by clearing 5-8.

Coach of the Year

Scott Silverstein

(Churchill, 4th year)

With help from assistant Dave Warren, led Bulldogs to most successful season ever, winning county and regional titles before earning silver medal at 4A⁄3A state meet.
