Russett woman charged with prostitutionA Russett woman has been charged with running a prostitution ring, an Anne Arundel Police Department spokesman said. Elizabeth Harrison, 35, of the 3400 block of Holly Creek Drive in Russett, was charged with promoting, profiting from and engaging in prostitution Feb. 29. Police conducted a sting operation in which undercover detectives scheduled an appointment with a woman offering sexual services through the Internet, said a press release. During the appointment, in which the woman solicited sex for money, police searched her apartment, the statement said. ‘‘[Harris] was the only individual charged,” said Sgt. John Gilmer, a public information officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department. ‘‘But the investigation is ongoing. They do anticipate charging other individuals.” Gilmer said he did not know where Harris is currently being held. In January, the Anne Arundel County Vice Unit began getting complaints from residents in the Russett Green Community that over the last several months large numbers of men and women had been seen coming and going from a particular apartment on Holly Creek Drive at all hours. The residents suspected something illegal might be taking place there, according to the press release. A subsequent police investigation revealed that several of the women seen coming to the apartment advertised sexual services on various Web sites.
