Geneva Day School gives back
| School Notes Bradford Pearson
Students at Potomac's Geneva Day School recently donated 980 pounds of food to the Manna Food Center, after Bert and Ernie stopped by the school to tell students about hunger.
The Sesame Street characters taught the students, ages 2 through 6, about children who don't have enough to eat, then asked them to help.
Students brought in 257 boxes of macaroni and cheese, 290 granola bars, 304 juice boxes and 382 packets of oatmeal, among other things. The Geneva children also decorated cloth napkins to deliver with the food.
Once Manna received the food, it was used for their Smart Sacks program, which gives children backpacks full of nutritious food for the weekend, when school lunches aren't available.
