A Winston Churchill High School senior has been selected as a 2008 Honeywell Scholar, one of 428 students worldwide selected by the technological and aeronautical company Honeywell.

Angela Fang, 17, of Potomac, will attend the Presidential Classroom program March 2-8 in Washington, D.C., where she will learn about the relationship between science, technology and public policy.

‘‘I’ve always been interested in science and math, so I thought the conference would be good,” Fang said.

Fang’s father works at Honeywell, she said, and he encouraged her to apply.

Students from 31 states and 31 countries will have the opportunity to meet with members of Congress, senior military officials and business leaders to discuss the role of technology in public policy. The scholars will also visit the National Air and Space Museum, and view Congress while it’s in session.

Fang is particularly interested in the Congressional seminar.

‘‘I really want to learn how things work [in Congress],” she said.

Fang, who is also a member of the Science National Honor Society, said she would like to study biology next year in college.
