1928 Born in family home on West All Saints Street; delivered by noted black doctor Ulysses G. Bourne

1945 Graduated from all-black Lincoln School

1945-1948 Served in U.S. Navy during WWII

1948 Married Cynthia (Bayton) Lee, Lincoln class of 1946

1954 Graduated from Howard University with degree in physical education; later earned master’s degree in administrative supervision at what is today McDaniel College

1954-1970 Physical education teacher at Lincoln High and West Frederick Junior High

1970-76 Vice and associate principal at West Frederick Junior High

1977-1983 Principal at renamed West Frederick Middle School; retired in 1983

1986 Elected alderman for City of Frederick

1990-1994 Re-elected alderman; served as president pro tem

1993 ‘‘William O. Lee Jr. Community Room” dedicated at Taney Apartments

2003 ‘‘Bill Lee Remembers” published, chronicles black life in 20th century Frederick

2004 Dies at age 75 from lung cancer; buried in Fairview Cemetery next to wife, Cynthia, who died in 2006

2006 ‘‘William O. Lee Suspension Bridge” dedicated on Carroll Creek Park
