Capitol Heights man fatally shot

A Capitol Heights man was shot Jan. 31 on Marlboro Pike and police are still looking for the shooter.

Police responded about 11:30 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights and discovered Herbert Todd Hobbs, 30, of the 4800 block of Heath Street with two gunshot wounds. Hobbs was taken to the hospital where he died early Friday morning. Police did not have information regarding where on his body he was wounded.

Police said Hobbs was standing in line at a gas station to make a purchase when the man standing behind him got into an argument with him. Police said the man shot him twice and fled the scene on foot. Police ask anyone with more information to call the county’s homicide unit at 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477 to remain anonymous. Police will give a $25,000 to the tip leading to an arrest.
