The Chevy Chase Village Board of Managers will consider the future of the Wohlfarth property at a meeting next week.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Ave., Chevy Chase.

The property is two acres between Grove Street and Western Avenue. The Wohlfarth land was purchased from the estate holders in 2002 using Legacy Open Space funds and contributions from Chevy Chase Village and Section 5 of the Village of Chevy Chase. Legacy Open Space funds are used to preserve land deemed historic or in need of protection.

The board will look specifically at whether to keep or demolish the property’s existing structures — a house and three-car garage. The Village is working with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission to hold charrettes in April to determine possible future uses for the property.

Residents wishing to comment on the property’s future can speak at the meeting or submit written comments to the Board of Managers before the meeting.

Chevy Chase Clubproject moves along

The Board of Appeals recently granted a change to the Chevy Chase Club’s special exception status.

The club plans to build a new pool house, swimming pools and tennis courts on the Bradley Lane side of its property.

Construction is expected to begin this fall at the earliest and be completed next summer. Representatives for the Club have been in touch with the neighboring Chevy Chase municipalities, where noise from construction trucks and the trucks’ driving routes onto the club could pose challenges.
