Brian G. Henning, author of ‘‘The Ethics of Creativity,” will present ‘‘The Ethics of Food: The Battle for American Hearts and Stomachs” at 7 p.m. Monday at the C. Burr Artz Library, 110 E. Patrick St., Frederick.

Henning, who was raised in Idaho, ‘‘land of meat and potatoes,” was drawn to environmental philosophy and the ethics of food during his undergraduate days at Seattle University. The recent explosion of interest in organic and cruelty-free foods and ‘‘eat local” movements made Henning interested in the line separating our food cravings and ethical duty.

Henning developed his own holistic, organic ethical theory in his book ‘‘The Ethics of Creativity,” in which he tackles the ethics of food.

Monday’s presentation is free and open to the public. Sign language interpretation is available upon advance request.
