Open forum: It’s time to do the right thing

What an outrage! My family and I have been reading and hearing about the landowners fight in Sandy Spring over the past few months. I am deeply saddened to read that our own local government defines this fight as being out of their jurisdiction. I find this to be very odd since its taking place right here in our very own backyard.

Who’s fight is it anyway? And how very American this story appears to be. You either fit in the ‘‘have” category or the ‘‘have not” category.

Clearly these residents are working with limited resources and county relationships. One thing for sure: If they possessed political clout here in Montgomery County or better yet the mighty, mighty dollar influence, then this fight would have been over before it even started.

How can any of us stand idle and do nothing? This could very easily happen to our families. This is really much bigger than what we are reading about. I sure hope that the editorial staff at the Gazette continues to follow this case and every person involved closely. This is our community and we care what happens to our neighbors.

This is not a black or white issue it’s simply a do the right thing issue. Is it that difficult for our elected officials to see that we are sick and tired of being pushed around by the precise people that we voted in office? We were obviously mislead by their political aspirations. They played the game very well. But be advised, the truth always prevails. And a loser never wins.
