Silver Spring chamber to hold networking events

A networking breakfast sponsored by the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce will be held 7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Feb. 13 at Eggspectation, 623 Ellsworth Drive, Silver Spring. Cost is $20 to $30 for chamber members; prospective members pay $25 or $35. Call 301-565-3777 to register by Monday.

A business after-hours sponsored by the county chamber will be held 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at The Claridge House Apartments, 2445 Lyttonsville Road, Silver Spring. Cost is $10 for prospective members; members are admitted free. Call 301-565-3777 to register by Feb. 25.

Verizon namesnew president

Verizon Washington, D.C., has selected William R. Roberts to become president of the company. He remains president of Verizon Maryland. Roberts succeeds Anthony A. Lewis, who has been named a vice president at Verizon Wireless, according to a news release from Verizon.

Roberts will oversee the company’s operations and financial matters in the District and take over Verizon’s public policy, external affairs and regulatory matters in the District. He will do the same for Verizon in Maryland and will have offices in Washington and Baltimore.

Lunch focuseson energy efficiency

A lunch titled ‘‘Blueprint for the Future: Partnering with Customers for an Energy-Efficient and an Environmentally Friendly Tomorrow” will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. March 12 at El Aguila Restaurant, 8649 16th St., Silver Spring.

Sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Greater Silver Spring, Prince George’s County and Bethesda chapters, the event will feature Kim Watson, vice president for Maryland affairs for Pepco.
