The Bishop McNamara High School boys’ basketball game at Good Counsel on Friday will be one of several games involving county teams that are being broadcast regionally on CN8 this winter.

The cable channel, which reaches 9 million viewers, also will air the state Class 2A and 4A boys’ championship games live March 15, beginning at 6 p.m.

The other six boys’ and girls’ title games will be available later in the week through Comcast Digital Cable’s On Demand, a service that allows viewers to watch the games when they want for two weeks after they become available.

State championship games have been aired live and on tape delay off and on over the years by local and regional television stations, said Ned Sparks, executive director of the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association. This year’s digital cable element is new, he said.

‘‘It’s the first time that they will be on video On Demand,” Sparks said. ‘‘That means you can go back and watch whenever you want.”

The McNamara-Good Counsel game will be shown at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and is one of five regular-season boys’ basketball games CN8 is showing on tape delay.
