A Landover man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the October 2006 shooting death of Lake Arbor resident Raymond Scott Brown.

Jamaal Garvin Alexis, 21, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by county homicide detectives.

‘‘He has been named the actual shooter in the homicide,” Police spokesman Henry Tippett said.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and were unable to release any more information at this time.

Brown, better known as ‘‘Scottie Beats,” was a 36-year-old Fort Washington-based music producer who was shot and killed Oct. 13, 2006 after trying to chase down thieves who used a tow truck to steal his Chrysler 300 luxury sedan from his driveway.

Neiman Marcus Jay Edmonds, 20, of Upper Marlboro also has been charged with first-degree murder and carjacking in connection with the case.
