Human remains found in wooded area of Kentland neighborhood

County police believe human remains found in a wooded area of the Kentland neighborhood Jan. 25 are the result of a homicide.

Officers arrived at the 7300 block of East Forest Road about 9:39 a.m. after Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission workers reported finding the skeletal remains of an unidentified male, according to a police news release. Police and the county medical examiner both determined the victim died from gunshot wounds. Police have not yet determined the male’s identity, a motive or suspect.

Those with information leading to an arrest are asked to call the county’s homicide unit at 301-772-4925 or 1-866-411-8477 to remain anonymous. Police will offer a $25,000 reward will go to the individual with a tip leading to an arrest.
