Center City

Jan. 20

6:03 p.m., Area of Greenbelt Road and Belle Point Drive. Purse snatching. A woman said she was walking down Greenbelt Road when two people walked by her. One of them pulled her purse from her arm and ran to a waiting vehicle, described only as a dark colored vehicle, and fled the scene. The people are described as wearing masks, no further.

11:18 p.m., 6400 block of Capitol Drive. Assault arrest. Jeremiah Thomas Barnes, 26, of the 4900 block of 11th Street N.E., Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with three counts of second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Keenan Patrick Horton, 47, of the 2400 block of Franklin Street N.E., Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, trespass and failure to obey a lawful order. Sekou Dia Goings, 25, of the 1200 block of Faraday Place N.E., Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with failure to obey a lawful order. Officers responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot of T.G.I.Friday’s Restaurant. Upon arriving on the scene, an officer saw a man walking in the parking lot with his hand tucked inside the front of his waistband. The officer tried to speak with him, at which time he spit on the officer and began shouting profanities. He then walked toward the officer in an aggressive manner while threatening him. He was told that he was under arrest, at which time he assaulted two officers as they attempted to place him custody. Horton was arrested after he began yelling at the officers as they were attempting to place the man under arrest, which caused onlookers to gather. Goings was arrested after he refused orders to clear the parking lot. Both Barnes and Horton were transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner. Goings was released on citation pending trial.

Jan. 23

6:53 p.m., 121 Centerway. Theft arrest. Patrick Sean Mahar, 50, of Crescent Road was arrested and charged with theft. An officer responded to the Co-op Supermarket for a report of an unattended purse that had been taken from a grocery cart. A resident reported seeing a man run from the store with the purse. A short time later an officer saw a man matching the description given waiting at a bus stop on Crescent Road. As the officer approached him, he saw a wallet that matched the description given by the victim sticking out of his coat pocket. The wallet contained papers and property belonging to the victim. He was transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Burglaries

Jan. 24

6:34 a.m., 7800 block of Walker Drive. Burglary report. Someone broke out the rear window of a workout room and removed two plasma TV’s.

Jan. 18

8:47 p.m., 6000 Greenbelt Road. Trespass arrest. Kwaku Boadi Antwi, 35, of the 1700 block of Plane Tree Way in Bowie was arrested and charged with trespassing and theft. He was seen concealing store merchandise under his jacket at Beltway Plaza. He attempted to flee the area, but was apprehended by security officers. He had previously been banned by agents of the property. He was released on citation pending trial.

10:57 p.m., 6000 Greenbelt Road. Trespass arrest. Johnathan Rebeto Barclay, 20, of the 4900 block of Lakeland Drive in College Park. He was seen on the property of Beltway Plaza after he had previously been banned by agents of the property. He was released on citation pending trial.

Burglaries

Jan. 22

12:16 a.m., 5900 block Cherrywood Terrace. Burglary. Someone entered the residence by breaking out a bedroom window. Nothing appears to have been taken.

Drug violations⁄arrests

Jan. 22

8:02 p.m., 6200 block of Breezewood Court. Possession of CDS with intent to distribute arrest. Daniel Hawkins, 20, of the 1600 block of Eastern Avenue in Capitol Heights was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute and CDS possession – marijuana. Tracking robbery suspects, an officer stopped two men matching the descriptions given for the suspects. As the officer was doing a pat down for weapons, Hawkins was found to possess several baggies of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

Robberies

Jan. 15

8:25 p.m., 6000 block Greenbelt Road. Robbery. A man said he was walking to his vehicle when he was approached from behind by two suspects. One of the suspects placed a knife to his back, announced a robbery and removed his wallet from his pocket. Both suspects fled the area on foot. There was no description given for the suspects.

Jan. 20

10:12 p.m., Area of Breezewood Drive and Springhill Lane. Robbery. A woman said she was walking on the path between Beltway Plaza and Breezewood Drive when she saw a man exit a nearby vehicle. He displayed a handgun and announced a robbery. After obtaining her purse, he got back into the waiting vehicle and fled the scene. The man is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches, wearing a black jacket, a black hat and black gloves. The car he fled in is described as a dark colored Dodge Neon, no further. There is no description given for the driver.

Jan. 22

5:30 p.m., 6100 block Springhill Terrace. Robbery arrests. Ronald McDaniel, 19, of the 6100 block of Breezewood Drive was arrested and charged with armed robbery and robbery. A 15-year-old Greenbelt youth was arrested for armed robbery and robbery. A man said he was inside an apartment building walking to an apartment when two suspects exited the laundry room. One of them produced a handgun and announced a robbery. After obtaining a cell phone and other property from him, both fled the area on foot. A man matching the description given was stopped by an officer in the 9200 block of Springhill Lane and found to be in possession of property belonging to him. The second was stopped in the 6100 block of Breezewood Court and positively identified by him. McDaniel suspect was transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner. The youth was transported to Boy’s Village in Cheltenham pending action by the Juvenile Justice System.

7:38 p.m., 9100 block Edmonston Court. A food delivery person said he attempted to make a delivery, but the residents stated that they did not place an order. When the victim left the apartment building, he was approached by five suspects. Two of the suspects assaulted him and demanded the food he was attempting to deliver. After obtaining the food, the suspects fled the scene on foot. Two of the suspects are described as black males, 16 to 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches tall with heavy builds, with each suspect wearing dark clothing. No description was given for the other suspects.

Greenbelt East

Jan. 19

2:22 a.m., 7200 Hanover Drive. Disorderly conduct arrest. Bola Aduke Scott, 41, of the 10000 block of Treetop Lane in Seabrook was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and trespass. He was asked to leave Willy K’s Bar and Restaurant by management after becoming involved in a verbal altercation with another patron. He complied, but returned a short time later and began acting in a disorderly fashion, causing people to stop and observe her actions. He was arrested and released on citation pending trial.

Jan. 20

12:43 p.m., 7500 block Greenbelt Road. Disorderly conduct arrest. Otis Reginald Caldwell, 24, of the 3900 block of Suitland Road in Suitland was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. An officer saw him in the parking lot of Greenway Shopping Center looking in parked cars. As the officer began speaking with him, he began acting in a disorderly manner, shouting profanities and causing people to stop and observe his actions. The officer placed him under arrest, at which time he began to struggle and kick at the officers. He was transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.

5700 block of Greenbelt Metro Drive. Vandalism to auto.

5800 block of Cherrywood Lane. Stolen auto. A 2003 Dodge Durango. The vehicle was recovered the next day by the Metropolitan Police Department in the 1400 block of Fuller Street N.W., Washington, D.C. No arrests.

Jan. 21

Unit block Maplewood Court. Theft from auto (Two incidents).

Jan. 23

Area of Kenilworth Avenue and Crescent Road. Stolen auto arrests. Manuel Jesus Montano, 20, of the 3500 block of Toledo Terrace in Hyattsville and Daniel Emigddonio Benitez, 18, of the 2900 block of Jamestown Road in Hyattsville were arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft, theft over $500, theft, unauthorized use, possession of burglary tools in a motor vehicle and rogue and vagabond. A 17-year-old Hyattsville youth was arrested for motor vehicle theft, theft over $500, theft, unauthorized use, possession of burglary tools in a motor vehicle and rogue and vagabond. An officer saw a 1996 Honda Civic being pushed down the roadway by the three men. Believing that the vehicle was disabled, the officer turned around to render assistance. The officer then saw that the steering column had been tampered with. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in Anne Arundel County. All the men then fled the area on foot onto Crescent Road toward Buddy Attick Park. One man was apprehended with the assistance of a K-9 and handler. The 17-year-old was apprehended without incident nearby. The third was located a short time later in the area of Kenilworth Avenue and Crescent Road. Montano was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during apprehension. Both Montano suspect and Benitez were transported to the Department of Corrections for a hearing before a District Court Commissioner. The youth was released to a parent pending action by the Juvenile Justice System.

Jan. 24

Recovered stolen auto. A 1995 Nissan Maxima 4-door, reported stolen Jan. 17 from the 6400 block of Capitol Drive, was recovered this date by the Metropolitan Police Department in the 500 block of Oakwood Street S.E., Washington, D.C. No arrests. The tag on the vehicle at the time of theft, Maryland 96372BY, was not recovered and is still out as stolen.

Recovered stolen auto arrest. Lamont Antoine Lancaster, 32, of Shiloh Court in Laurel. A routine computer check on a 2003 Grand Jeep Cherokee revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen Dec, 26, 2007, to Prince George’s County Police Department. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver was determined to have an open warrant for the unauthorized removal of this same vehicle. The driver had no driver’s license in any state and currently was suspended in Maryland. He was transported to the Department of Corrections for service of the warrant as well as presentation to the District Court Commissioner for the charges of theft over $500 and vehicle theft and for a traffic citation for driving while suspended and driving without license.

Recovered stolen auto. A 1999 GMC Jimmy reported stolen Jan. 23 from the parking lot of 6100 Greenbelt Road was located at the victim’s house in Lanham on this date by the Prince George’s County Police Department. No arrests.

Jan. 25
