Juanita Pumphrey

Juanita ‘‘Nita” Adams Moore Pumphrey, 68, of Damascus, died Jan. 21, 2008, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville.

Born April 11, 1939, in Gaithersburg, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow W. Sr. and Myrtle E. Adams.

She was the wife of Frank Pumphrey for 29 years and the late Marcel S. Moone Sr., who died in 1974.

Mrs. Pumphrey graduated from Gaithersburg High School and worked for St. Rose of Lima Church for many years. She also worked for the family business, Woodlawn Corporation. She was a member of Upper Seneca Baptist Church, Cedar Grove and the Laytonsville Homemaker Club.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Marcel S. Moone Jr. and wife Sharon and Sean A. Moone, all of Damascus, and Todd A. Moone of Rapid City, S.D..; two sisters, Annabelle Kindred of Gaithersburg and Betsy Stabler and husband, Robert of Brookeville; one brother, Woodrow W. ‘‘Woody” Adams Jr. and wife, Connie of Mount Airy; one aunt, Peggy Anderson of Frederick; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at Upper Seneca Baptist Church, Cedar Grove. The Rev. Gayle L. Clifton officiated. Interment was in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville.
