James D. Drain

James D. Drain, 102, of Frederick, formerly of Rockville and Lehigh Acres, Fla., died Jan. 7, 2008, at Citizens Care and Rehab Center in Frederick.

Born Aug. 12, 1905, in Buena Vista, Va., he was the son of the late William D. and Emma Branham Drain. He was the husband of the late Ann C. Drain for 68 years.

Mr. Drain was a former member of the Derwood Bible Church and Christ United Methodist Church of Lehigh Acres, Fla. He was the oldest living member of the Monacan Indian Nation.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Kidwell of Frederick and Gloria A. Graves of Montgomery Village; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Level, Nannie Carter and Juanita Giles; one brother, Russell Drain; and one grandson, Keith A. Miles.

Funeral services were held Jan. 14. Burial was in Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville.

Arrangements were handled by Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville.
