A two-alarm fire caused more than $2 million in damage to a Chevy Chase Village home under construction at 7205 Oakridge Ave. just after midnight today. The fire also displaced a family that lives next door.
County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer said units responded around midnight to the blaze, which caught the neighboring home's attic on fire from "radiant heat," displacing the family and causing an estimated $50,000 in damage. There were no injuries. Another neighboring house suffered $10,000 in superficial scorching from the blaze, he said.
Piringer said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire took about 45 minutes to subdue.
