County Police Report

The following is a summary of recent incidents in the First (Rockville) and Fourth (Wheaton-Glenmont) districts to which the Montgomery County Police responded. The words ‘‘arrested” and ‘‘charged” do not imply guilt.

First District

Armed carjacking

*On Dec. 19 at 9 a.m. at Coral’s Gas Station, 30 Southlawn Court in Rockville. A DHL delivery driver got out of the truck to pump gas when a man displayed a handgun and took the vehicle. The vehicle was abandoned at Avery and Norbeck roads. The carjacker then got into the passenger side of a U-Haul truck and fled..

Graffiti

*Between Dec. 18 and 19 in the 9300 block of Bells Mill Road in Potomac. Possibly gang-related.

Indecent exposure

*On Dec. 18 between 3 and 4 a.m. in the unit block of Arbor Forrest Court in Rockville. A man knocked on a woman’s window and exposed himself. He was last seen walking into nearby woods.

Police impersonator

*On Dec. 21 at 5:06 p.m., a man was driving on Veirs Mill Road in Rockville when he exchanged words with another motorist. The man parked, left his vehicle and approached the motorist. The man was wearing a jacket and hat with law enforcement insignia and had a police-type baton that he used to strike the motorist’s vehicle. The man’s vehicle is described as a black 2004 Ford Expedition.

Vehicle larceny

*12800 and 13200 block of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville, no dates provided. In the first incident, the method of entry was unknown, vehicle parts were taken and the suspects were seen by a witness. In the second incident, a window was broken and an attempt was made to take the stereo. The suspect vehicle is described as a red Honda Civic.

Commercial burglary

*Barbershop at 619 Hungerford Drive in Rockville on Dec. 20. The shop’s window was shattered. No further details available.

Residential garageburglary

*9100 block of Paytley Bridge Lane and the 9200 block of Cambridge Manor Court in Potomac, at approximately 2:01 a.m. Dec. 19. A police surveillance team saw a person disappear near a victim’s garage and then drive off a few minutes later. A short time later, the person was seen committing another burglary and was arrested. Stolen property was recovered.

Fourth District

Aggravated assault

*On Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m. Giant Food store employee chased down a shoplifter, wrestled him to the ground, and was stabbed in the leg with a knife. The shoplifter fled south on Georgia Avenue on foot.

Carjacking⁄robbery

*On Dec. 23 at 3 a.m. in Wheaton, near the Amherst Avenue 7-Eleven store. While riding in the victim’s car, a person displayed a weapon and assaulted the victim. The carjacker fled in the victim’s museum. The vehicle was subsequently located, and a person was arrested.

Armed robbery

*On Dec. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at 200 Norwood Road. A person displayed a handgun and demanded the juvenile victim’s jacket. One person has been arrested, a second suspect has been identified and his arrest is pending. Both suspects are 19 years old.

Commercial armed robbery

*On Dec. 18 at 10:20 p.m. at the Georgia Avenue Market, 13623 Georgia Ave. in Aspen Hill. A suspect has been arrested.

Strong-arm robbery

*On Dec. 23 at 12:13 a.m. at Pear Tree Court and Connecticut Avenue in Aspen Hill. An intoxicated male was beaten and robbed by three male teens. Witnesses observed the robbers run into the Peppertree apartment complex.

*On Dec. 18 at 7:35 p.m. at Andrew and Edwin streets in Wheaton. Robbers rendered the victim unconscious and took personal property.

*On Dec. 23 at 5:23 p.m. in the 3800 block of Brightview Street in Silver Spring. The victim was approached from behind and held by one person, while others went through his pockets taking personal property.

*On Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. in the 2500 block of Ennalls Avenue in Wheaton. Three male teens accosted an adult male with a knife and took his personal property.

Residential burglary

*Unit block of Catoctin Court in Silver Spring, between 10:15 p.m. Dec. 19 and 9:30 a.m. Dec. 20. Forced entry; property taken.

*Unit block of Catoctin Court in Silver Spring, between Dec. 16 and 21. Forced entry into a vacant house.

*4500 block of Cannes Lana in Silver Spring, on multiple occasions since Dec. 11. No sign of forced entry; property taken.

*4300 block of Frankfort Drive in Rockville at 7:20 p.m. Dec. 21. A man entered the unlocked front door and took property.
