Nannie Hazel Neal, 103, of Rockville, formerly of Damascus, died Jan. 4, 2008, at the home of her daughter.

Born Jan. 4, 1905, in Ceres, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ella Mae Groseclose and Tilden Harmon.

She was the wife of the late Jessie B. Neal, who died in 1969.

Mrs. Neal worked at Bell Laundry in Bethesda for 29 years and retired in 1975 from Montgomery County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church until she relocated to Rockville. Her hobbies included gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include her daughter, Othella D. Butt; one son, Hugh G. Neal and wife Peggy of Rockville; two daughters-in-law, Delores Neal of Damascus and Marion Neal of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ophelia E. Harding, in 1997; two sons, Jessie B. Neal Jr. in 1963 and LaVerne H. Neal in 2003; and five sisters and four brothers.

The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Damascus United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Oak Cemetery in Gaithersburg.
