Open forum: It’s beginning to look a lot like democracy

It’s beginning to look a lot like democracy everywhere you go, even Iowa. America is craving representation completely different from the usual suspects.

Everyone should take a long, hard look at both parties’ frontrunners. Which party’s candidates look more to you, like a slice of the American pie?

Reliving America’s past creates unnecessary divisions along ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, religious and cultural lines while destroying the social progress we have made as a nation in recent decades.

Iowans chose the message regardless of its packaging. My hope is that we will all do the same when our turn comes to choose the next president of the United States. We need a president worthy of the title who is going to unite this country and rebuild it after almost a decade of wrong decisions made by The Decider.

Our future president has to reassess our purpose in the Middle East as well as Afghanistan, improve our global reputation, repair broken international alliances, and deal with domestic issues that have long been ignored.

We must be lifted out of this economic quagmire. The American spirit must be healed. Trust in the presidency must be restored.
