What do you get when you have lots of money, have traveled the state for four years preaching to and building the Democratic base and have ties to state and national Democrats? You get why Lierman is being talked about as a candidate for something in the future. If Mikulski retires in 2010, Van Hollen is likely to jump into that race, freeing up the District 8 congressional seat for Lierman, who nearly won it in 2000.
