Isiah Leggett

For a Democratic Party in desperate need of diverse leadership, Leggett could be a saving grace. He trounced Montgomery County Councilman Steven A. Silverman for Montgomery County Executive last month, and his statewide profile will only grow. An African American from voter-rich Montgomery County with ties to the legal community and a military background, he could give Smith a run for his money in 2010 if Ehrlich wins in November. Unlike Smith, Leggett is not bound by term limits and could remain a player beyond the 2010 cycle.
