Montgomery County State's Attorney
Douglas F. Gansler

The odds-on favorite for attorney general is young, media-friendly, a prodigious fundraiser and a capable statewide vote-getter in the last month’s primary. His $1.5 million war chest scared off other AG wannabes, and he nearly ran the table in 22 of 24 jurisdictions in his convincing win over former Baltimore prosecutor and Glendening official Stuart O. Simms. Gansler is expected to follow the Elliot Spitzer model taking on perceived corporate villains. That will make him a big contender in 2010 or beyond.
