January

Jan. 5
Police received a call for shots fired around 3:30 a.m. and found William Clinkscale Jr., 47, of the 4500 block C Street SE Washington, D.C., and Darrin Leslie McGilvery, 47, of the 400 block of Zelma Avenue of Capitol Heights inside a Mitsubishi car stopped in the road at the intersection of East Spring Street and East Marlboro Avenue in Landover. The men were dead when police arrived on the scene. Marcus Gregory Newman, 27, of the 7900 block of Johnson Avenue was arrested Jan. 22 for the shootings.

Jan. 9
Nathan Ronald Neal, 22, of the 2300 block of Minnesota Avenue SE of Washington, D.C. was found at 1:53 a.m. in the 1600 block of Brightseat Road in Landover suffering from trauma to his body and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Ronald Lawton Neal, 30, of Landover was arrested and charged Jan. 21.

At about 10 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of Possum Court in Capitol Heights, about three miles from the first homicide, for a report of the sound of gunshots. They found 33-year-old Jerome Andre Fuller Jr. of the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue SE in Washington, D.C., lying on the ground outdoors suffering from gunshot wounds. Police say he died on the scene.

Jan. 10
At around 5:30 p.m., police responding to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of Naylor Road in Washington, D.C., found Gordon Reaves Rivers, 47, of the 9700 block of Prince William Drive in Brandywine unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead shortly after he was brought to a local hospital, police reported.

Jan. 14
At approximately 11:40 p.m., Upper Marlboro and Prince George's County police responded to a report of a man down on the 5400 block of Water Street, across the street from the Prince George's County District Courthouse. Police found Ameil S. Haynes, 43, whose last known address was in Upper Marlboro, lying on the curb in front of a private office building at 5407 Water St. He had suffered trauma to the upper body and was pronounced dead on the scene by county paramedics. Police ruled Haynes' death a homicide Jan. 19.

February

Feb. 1
Prince George's County police responded to a report of an injured man in the 6800 block of Red Top Road in Chillum and found Baba Camara, 47, of Takoma Park suffering from trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Gbane Issoufou, 34, of the 6400 block of Sligo Mill Road in Takoma Park is wanted by police in the killing.

Feb. 9
Bulmaro Nucamendi-Ventura, 40, of Mexico was found dead in the 5400 block of 55th Place in Riverdale. Nucamendi-Ventura was staying in the 5400 block of 56th Avenue in Riverdale.

Feb. 14
Daniel Cobb, 55, of Seat Pleasant was arrested at approximately 3:20 p.m. Feb. 15 after placing calls to his mother and 911 stating he had killed his estranged wife, Sonia Marie Cobb, 39, and he planned to kill himself, Prince George's County police said. According to documents filed in Prince George's County District Court, Daniel Cobb told county police detectives he and his wife were in a parking lot the night of Feb. 14 when they began to argue. He then hit her in the head with a hammer before stabbing her several times with a 10-inch-long butcher knife, according to the documents. Daniel Cobb continued to drive his Dodge Caliber with Sonia Cobb's body in it until he was arrested by police.

Feb. 17
Samuel Kelly Garvin, 26, of the 3000 block of Ninth Street SE in Washington, D.C., was found by a Prince George's County Sheriff's Office deputy on lunch break from an assignment at Suitland High School. The deputy saw four men fleeing the 4600 block of Suitland Road around 11:45 a.m. and saw Garvin lying face down on the ground, the result of being shot in the face, said a spokeswoman from the sheriff's office. Garvin was taken to a local trauma center and died early that afternoon.

Feb. 18
Hannah Wheeling, 65, of the 200 block of Courtland Place in Bel Air, was found lying outside a door on the Cheltenham Youth Facility grounds at about 8 a.m. by a staff member. The state medical examiner determined Wheeling, a general studies teacher at Cheltenham, died of multiple blunt-force trauma injuries, according to a release from Maryland State Police. A source familiar with the investigation said the juvenile suspect is a 13-year-old boy who was housed at Cheltenham at the time of Wheeling's death.

Feb. 25

Vernon Tyrell Cooper, 39, of the 9400 block of Juliette Drive in Clinton, was found by Prince George's County Police in a parked truck in a Landover neighborhood. Cooper sustained trauma to his upper body and police believe he was left in the truck sometime before the Feb. 5 snowstorm. Police said a family member had reported Cooper missing Jan. 24.

Feb. 28
At 11:30 p.m., Prince George's County police responded to a call for unknown trouble in the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park and found an unresponsive male with trauma to the upper body, police reported. Juan Perez Ramirez, 35, of the 8100 block of 14th Avenue in Langley Park, was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead several hours later. Police said Ramirez was involved in an altercation after an event at the apartment complex.

March

March 7
At approximately 6:23 a.m., Prince George's County police responded to the 7200 block of Goblet Court in Clinton and found Christopher Louis Price of the 9800 block of Woodland Avenue in Seabrook lying in the street suffering from trauma to the upper body. Price was transported to a hospital, admitted in critical condition and died two days later from his injuries, police said. Police are asking the public for their help in locating Kevin Arnold Bess, 28, of Glenn Dale wanted in connection with the homicide.

March 11
Donta Jermaine Simmons, 29, of Oxon Hill, walked into the United Medical Center in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue in Washington, D.C., suffering from a gunshot, where he later died. Charde Monet Walls, 17, of Oxon Hill was arrested and charged her with first- and second-degree murder. According to Prince George's County Police, Walls and Simmons were acquaintances and had been involved in a dispute earlier that day in the 900 block of Irvington Street in Oxon Hill.

March 24

Justin Ryan Cobb, 29, of the 5000 block of Gunther Street in Capitol Heights was found by Prince George's County police who were responding to a report of a shooting at 12:41 a.m. Cobb was found unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died from his injuries.

March 25

At approximately 11:35 a.m., Prince George's County police responded to a home at the 3900 block of 26th Avenue in Hillcrest Heights for a welfare check, according to charging documents filed in District Court. When they arrived, they found Latoya Aiesha Martin, 28, in the driveway wearing a white T-shirt with blood stains. Upon entering the home, they found Sheila Martin, 53, lying face down in the foyer. She had sustained blunt force trauma to her face and head and was pronounced dead on the scene. Latoya Martin was arrested and charged March 25 with first-degree murder and first-degree assault in connection with the death.

March 27

At 7:48 p.m. Prince George's County police responded to a wooded area in the 2200 block of University Boulevard in Lewisdale near Adelphi, to check on the welfare of an individual found unconscious. They found Alvaro Martinez, 51, a homeless man known to stay in an encampment there and pronounced him dead on the scene. Another homeless man, Carlos Eduardo Guzman, 34, was arrested and charged with Martinez's killing.

March 27

At about 8 p.m., Prince George's County police responded to a report of an injured person at a boarding house in the 1300 block of Eastwood Drive in Forestville. Police found Henry Geovanny Sanchez-Alvarenga, 22, suffering from trauma to the body. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

March 28

At approximately 2:12 a.m., Prince George's County police responded to a report of a shooting at a small shopping center in the 3400 block of Dallas Drive in Temple Hills. Police found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to a local hospital, where Lorenzo Steven Smith Jr., 35, of the 3900 block of Dent Street in Capitol Heights was pronounced dead. The other victim, a 33-year-old man, is expected to survive his injuries.

April

April 10

Prince George's County police responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of Andrew's Restaurant in the 6400 block of Suitland Road around 2 a.m. Police found Cynthia Deshawn Aaron, 32, of the 5600 block of Judicial Drive in Glenn Dale and a 33-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital and Aaron died a short time later, police said. Adrian "Lil Dre" Francis Lewis, 20, was arrested May 6 by Prince George's County police for the shooting. Police said Lewis allegedly had an argument earlier in the night and Aaron was caught in the line of fire when Lewis began shooting.

At 12:14 a.m., Prince George's County police responded to a report of a shooting at the 2100 block of East Marshall Place in Landover and found Robert Lee Anderson, 20, of Hyattsville shot multiple times in the upper body, according to police reports. Anderson was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said. Jeremiah Antoine Sweeney, 24, of Washington, D.C., was arrested for the shooting.

April 12

Prince George's County police officers responded to the 6800 block of Central Avenue at approximately 7:33 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Police found Andre David Brooks, 33, of the 600 block of Emerson Street NE, in Washington, D.C., and a 31-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital, where Brooks died. Police believe the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between the two men and the shooter, whom they are still working to identify.

At 9:48 a.m., Prince George's County police responded to a report of an injured woman and found Cristela Bermudez Leon, 39, of the 6600 block of 60th Avenue in Riverdale suffering from trauma to the body. On April 15, Ranufo Alejandro Vargas, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

April 27

Prince George's County police responded to an apartment complex in the 8900 block of Finchley Lane at about 9 p.m. for a report of a shooting. They found Clifton L. Smith Jr., 24, of the 8900 block of Finchley Lane in Laurel suffering from multiple gunshots inside of an apartment. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

April 28

Prince George's County police officers responded to Branch Avenue near Suitland Road in Temple Hills for a report of a shooting at approximately 9:17 p.m. The victim, Kevin Eugene Wright, 27, of Capitol Heights had already been taken to a Washington, D.C., hospital by ambulance when officers arrived, said county police spokesman Cpl. Mike Rodriguez. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Leroy Moore, 40, of Bladensburg was found dead in his apartment in the 5800 block of Annapolis Road. Moore suffered trauma to the upper body, Bladensburg police said. The woman who found the body said she had spoken with Moore April 27 but had not been able to reach him April 28 and went to his apartment to check on him, according to Bladensburg police. She found him lying on the floor and he appeared to have been dead for several hours when police arrived at approximately 9 p.m., Bladensburg police said. Prince George's County police are investigating the homicide.

May

May 1

Police found Lefrankal Devon Williams, 29, of Upper Marlboro suffering from multiple gunshots wounds in a Popeyes parking lot at 5320 Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights at 2:42 a.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead on the scene, and police have no witnesses or suspects in the shooting, police said.

May 2

Ronald Ragland Sr. and his neighbor, Robert Mitchell Jr., 18, were outside a home in the 8800 block of Charm Court in Brandywine engaged in an argument, when Ragland allegedly retrieved a handgun from his garage and shot Mitchell in the hip, according to Prince George's County police and charging documents filed in Prince George's County District Court. Robert Darryl Mitchell Sr., 53, who had not been home at the time his son was shot, arrived at the house. Charging documents state that as Mitchell Sr. pulled into his driveway, located across the street from Ragland's house, Ragland allegedly shot into Mitchell Sr.'s vehicle multiple times, fatally wounding him.

May 13

Prince George's County police officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 12:12 a.m. to a house in the 40 block of Queen Anne Bridge Road South, just outside Bowie city limits. Police found Pee Wee Duane Spencer, 32, who had been shot. Officers pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said in a statement that Spencer had "an extensive criminal history" and the shooting was not random.

May 14

A homicide occurred around midnight at the Jerry's Carryout in the 5700 block of Martin Luther King Highway in Seat Pleasant, Prince George's County police said. Seat Pleasant Police Chief Samuel Prue said the shooting victim, Keith Andre Vereen, 43, of the 400 block of Chesapeake Street SE in Washington, D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene.

May 16

Around 3:30 a.m., a group of three men were walking through an apartment complex at 5418 54th Ave. in Riverdale Park, when two men approached them and one pulled out a silver, semi-automatic handgun and demanded money, said Riverdale Park police. Freddy Helmut Quintana, 35, of the 2800 block of Everts Street NE in Washington, D.C, tried to block the gun and the suspect pistol whipped him. Quintana then turned to run away and the suspect shot him once in the back, police said. Quintana was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later, police said.

May 26

Eugene Jeffrey Dixon, 17, of the 600 block of Brandywine Street SE, in Washington, D.C., and a 21-year-old man were shot at approximately 12:26 p.m. in the 4800 block of Indian Head Highway, Prince George's County police said. Dixon died in a hospital a short time later. The other man was treated and released for his injuries. Police arrested Jesse Hamil Miller, 23, of the 600 block of Chesapeake Street SE in Washington, D.C., for the killing, which police said stemmed from gang violence.

May 27

A passerby reported a vehicle on fire in the 2100 block of Catskill Street in Temple Hills at approximately 10:10 p.m., Prince George's County police said. Police found William Sylvester Epps, 55, of the 4700 block of Maui Street in Clinton in the flaming car, according to police reports. Police said Epps sustained trauma to his upper body and was pronounced dead on the scene.

May 29

Police found Marcus Vines, 14, of Hyattsville bleeding shortly after 9:30 p.m. at an Exxon gas station in the 6600 block of Riverdale Road. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Jeremy Quintin Proctor, 18, of Hyattsville was arrested May 31 in Lanham and charged with first-degree murder, said county police spokesman Cpl. Mike Rodriguez.

Charles Daniel Williams, 31, of the 800 block of Chesapeake Street SE in Washington, D.C., was shot and killed in Temple Hills, Prince George's County police said. Police responded at approximately 7:25 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 5700 block of Auth Road, said officer Larry Johnson, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department. They found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

May 31

Jericka Chambers, 16, of the 6600 block of West Forest Road in Landover was shot in the head in Greenbelt and died of her injury June 2, Greenbelt police said.

Chambers was shot once in the head at around 7:45 p.m. in the 5900 block of Cherrywood Lane, according to Officer Kelly Lawson of the Greenbelt Police Department.

Lawson said June 2 that Chambers was pronounced dead at Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly at around 2:20 p.m.

City police arrested Rydell Lee Estep and Darnell Lee Estep, both 20 and of the 9100 block of Springhill Lane in Greenbelt, on June 25 and charged them with first- and second-degree murder, Lawson said.

June 10

At 8:30 a.m., Prince George's County police went to a home in the 1600 block of Clarion Terrace in Fort Washington after being called by a family member and found the bodies of Patricia Ann Corder, 65, and her son, Tracy Adam Corder, 39. According to police reports, Patricia Corder was diagnosed with terminal cancer and allegedly shot and killed her paralyzed son and then herself. Both the mother and son were dead when police arrived. Police were unsure when the shootings took place.

June 11

Maryland State Police trooper Wesley Brown, 24, was shot and killed around 12:40 a.m. outside the Applebee's Neighborhood Grill at 3447 Donnell Drive in Forestville while providing security at the shopping center.

Two Seat Pleasant men, Anthony Andre Milton II, 28, of 71st Court and Cyril Cornelius Williams, 27, of Seat Pleasant Drive, have been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

June 19

Prince George's County Police responded to a residence in the 11500 block of Lottsford Terrace in Mitchellville at 11:11 p.m. after receiving "numerous calls" of a shooting, said department spokesman Cpl. Clinton Copeland.

At the scene, officers found Aaron Christopher Leach, 21, of the 1000 block of Sutton Court in Upper Marlboro and two other men suffering from gunshot wounds. The three victims were transported to a local hospital, and Leach was pronounced dead a short time later. The other two victims, a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old, were treated for minor injuries and released.

June 24

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Police George's County police responding to the 400 block of Corning Avenue in Fort Washington for reports of gunshots found Jean Innocent, 42, of the same address suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead a short time later, said police spokesman officer Henry Tippett.

June 29

A Capitol Heights teen died from injuries he received three days earlier when he was beaten up by a group of men close to the Addison Road Metro station, Prince George's County police said.

Christopher William Moody, 17, of the 6800 block of Jade Court was attacked just after midnight June 26 as he was leaving the Metro station. July 25

Felipe Martinez-Rodriguez, 30, of Riverdale was found shot in the 5600 block of 56th Avenue in Riverdale at 10:52 p.m., said Prince George's County police. He was admitted to a hospital in critical condition and died July 31.

July

July 28

Police responded to the 6900 block of Greenboro Lane at 2:35 p.m. for a report that someone had been shot. The unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, was transported to a local hospital and died a short time later, police said.

July 31

Prince George's County police received a report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Regency Parkway in Suitland at 12:54 a.m. and found Antwann Massey, 34, of the 3800 block of Regency Parkway, with a gunshot wound, police said. Massey was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Prince George's County police received a report of a double shooting in the unit block of Cindy Lane in Capitol Heights at about 4:30 a.m. Police found a man and woman shot in front of an apartment. The man died at a hospital and the woman was in stable condition.

An unidentified man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body at 11:54 a.m. in the 5000 block of Fable Street in Capitol Heights. He died at the scene, police said.

August

Aug. 6

Prince George's County police responded at 2:45 a.m. to a house on the 6800 block of 3rd Street in Lanham after someone on the scene called to report an assault, police said. When they arrived they found Dawn Yvette Brooks, 38, and her children Shakur Sylvester Sikyala, 4; and 3-year-old Shayla Shante Sikyala; as well as the children's aunt, Mwasiti Sikyala, 41, shot and killed in a loft space in a detached garage behind the house. Darrell Lynn Bellard, 43, of Dickinson, Texas, and Tkeisha Nicole Gilmer, 18, of Texas City, Texas, were charged with first-degree murder in the deaths.

Aug. 9

Prince George's County police said at approximately 3 p.m., Lacole Veronica Hines, 17, was shot at Brightseat Liquors in the 2600 block of Brightseat Road in Landover. Police said Marcus Desmond Shipman, 23, of Capitol Heights went inside with a gun and shot Hines once in the head.

Police said Shipman and Hines lived in the same apartment complex, 5 Cindy Road in Capitol Heights. Officers followed the getaway car and arrested 16-year-old Carl Andre Jones of Washington, D.C., who they allege drove the car to the liquor store, and Shipman and charged them with attempted first-degree murder. Hines died Aug. 12 and the pair have now been charged with first-degree murder.

Aug. 11

David Javon Hinson, 20, of the 600 block of 16th Avenue NE in Washington, D.C., was found shot at 6 p.m. in the 1600 block of Lorton Avenue, outside the town limits of Capitol Heights. He was taken to an area hospital where he died.

Aug. 12

At approximately 9:26 p.m., Prince George's County officers responded to the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue for a report of a shooting. They found Brian Andre Grant, 21, of the 200 block of Warburton Oaks Drive in Fort Washington with a gunshot wound. He died on the scene a short time later.

Prince George's County police responded to the 2600 block of Kent Village Drive in Landover at 10:30 p.m. for the report of a shooting. They found Gilbert Edward Thomas, 30, of the 5500 block of Karen Elaine Drive suffering from gunshot wounds. He died a short time later.

Aug. 16

Two men were shot, one fatally, sometime around 9:17 p.m. in the 6800 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights, Prince George's County police said. Both were taken to an area hospital, where one of the men died from his injuries.

Aug. 22

Prince George's County police received calls for a reported stabbing at 3:38 a.m. George Harrison Cooper, 25, of Washington, D.C. was stabbed inside the CFE Event Center and carried outside by other patrons, according to police. He died later at a local hospital.

Prince George's County police found Edwin Yoanis Reyes, 21, of Lanham suffering from stab wounds inside a vehicle in the 2800 of Parkland Drive in Forestville. Reyes was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Prince George's County police were called to the 1700 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Capitol Heights and found 17-year-old Keith Deantre Washington of Temple Hills unconscious with trauma to the upper body. Washington was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Police did not specify his cause of death.

September

Sept. 15

On Sept. 8, Bowie police officers responded at 9:21 p.m. to the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department 816 station for a report of a person with a gunshot wound, according to a Bowie Police Department press release. The victim, Darrell Bernard Westbrook, 40, of the 7800 block of Jaywick Avenue in Fort Washington was shot in the 3600 block of Elder Oaks Boulevard and dropped off by people in a burgundy minivan. Three people were detained in connection with his death, according to Prince George's County and Bowie city police. Westbrook was later pronounced dead at Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, police said.

Sept. 17

Prince George's County police responded at 6:43 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 2600 block of Nicholson Street in Hyattsville. Police said they found a teenage boy, who had been shot, lying on the ground. The teen was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Sept. 18

Prince George's County police responded around 4 a.m. to a call of gunshots in the 3400 block of Dodge Park Road in Hyattsville. Police found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sept. 21

Prince George's County police responded to a call for a shooting at 2:30 p.m. and found a woman lying in the hallway of an apartment at The Gates of Cipriano Apartment homes, in the 8500 block of Greenbelt Road, according to county police. She was pronounced dead at a hospital at 3:20 p.m., police said.

Sept. 24

Prince George's County police responded to a report of a foul odor and found badly decomposed remains wrapped in plastic bags in a Dumpster in the 1700 block of Brightseat Road in Landover.

The state medical examiner's office in Baltimore ruled the death a homicide, and the body was identified as Nicole Thompson, 24, of the 1800 block of Andrews Avenue in New York, police said.

Sept. 25

Prince George's County police responded to reports of gunfire at 7:20 a.m. near Walters Lane and Hil-Mar Drive near Forestville.

Robert Louis Jackson, 35, of the 3200 block of Walters Lane in District Heights, was found inside the car and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Sept. 26

Prince George's County police responded to a call for gunshots at 11:50 p.m. to the 3400 block of Dodge Park Road in Landover and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot, said Cpl. Larry Johnson.

The man was identified as 22-year-old Pierre Antawn Medley of the 7300 block of Goodland Drive in Landover. Medley was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

October

Oct. 6

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Prince George's County police responded to calls of a shooting at a townhome in the 2500 block of Markham Lane in Landover, police said. Police said a woman was found dead outside the townhouse, but did not know the woman's approximate age or whether she was pronounced dead on the scene or at an area hospital.

Oct. 8

Prince George's County police have arrested and charged a Greenbelt man with the death of his three-month-old daughter. Jonathan I. Jacobs, 22, of the 6000 block of Springhill Drive was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder, manslaughter and first-degree child abuse in the death of Zariyah Jacobs-Miller, police said. Police and EMS personnel responded to Jacobs' home Sept. 3 for a report of an unresponsive child, who was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Oct. 9

Kenneth Lamarr Prince, 26, of Oxon Hill man was killed in the parking lot of West Bowie Village Hall after an all-night reggae dance party. A man approached Prince and a second victim, a man from Washington, D.C., in the parking lot of the venue, at 13711 Annapolis Road in Bowie, at 5:37 a.m. and shot them both. The other man remained in critical condition.

Oct. 19

Jermaine Lydell Mitchell, 31, of Forestville was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Marcel Wise, 49, of District Heights. Wise was found by Prince George's County police earlier that evening in Mitchell's home with fatal stab wounds. Charging documents from Prince George's County District Court state that Mitchell called police around 8:40 p.m. and said that he was about to die and he was going to kill Wise. At approximately 5 a.m. Prince George's County police responded to the 900 block of Drum Avenue in the Capitol Heights area for a report of a shooting and found Antonio DeShawn Baxter, 28, inside a vehicle with trauma to the body, county police said. Baxter lived in the block where he was found. He died on the scene. The shooting occurred a few blocks outside Capitol Heights' limits

Nov. 1

Prince George's County police patrol officers responded to a call around 2:50 a.m. Monday about a shooting in the 3500 block of Hubbard Road at the intersection of Dodge Park Road in Landover, police said. Police found Alfred Massey III, of the 4300 block of 57th Ave. in Bladensburg, in the street unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Massey was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nov. 1

A man was killed in a hit-and-run at approximately 2 a.m. on Branch Avenue near an intersection with Old Branch Avenue in Marlow Heights, Prince George's County police said. The man, who had no identification on him, died on the scene.

Nov. 4

Police were called to a vacant home in the 7400 block of Marlboro Pike in Forestville for a welfare check after a passerby saw the door to the home was ajar and a person lying on the floor inside the home, police said. John Leonard Lawhorn Jr., 42, of Clinton was found dead inside the home with trauma to the body. Police would not say whether they believe Lawhorn was killed inside the house and confirm details on how he died except to say he was not shot. Lawhorn did not have any affiliation with the house, police said. Joseph Laval Wills, 19, of the 1700 block of Tulip Avenue in District Heights was charged with first-degree murder.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., Prince George's County police received a report of gunshots at the 7500 block of Buchanan Street near Landover Hills, police said. Police found Michael Anthony Roberts Jr., 27, of the 5000 block of 70th place in Landover Hills suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 8:45 p.m. New Carrollton and Prince George's County police discovered the body of Mark McFarlane, 42, of the 11200 block of Petworth Lane in Glenn Dale in a SUV parked at Heritage Square Apartments in the 7700 block of Riverdale Road. McFarlane suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his head, said New Carrollton police. Witnesses called police after hearing sounds of a floored accelerator on McFarlane's vehicle parked in a Heritage Square parking lot, New Carrollton police said.

Nov. 23

Prince George's County patrol officers responded at about 11:40 p.m. to a report of a stabbing in the 3100 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills. They found Jeremy Cornelius McWilliams, 25, of the 3400 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills suffering from a stab wound, police said. McWilliams was taken to Southern Maryland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Police said it was believed that McWilliams attacked the woman in a jealous rage and that she defended herself.

Nov. 28

Prince George's County police received a resident call about 12:29 p.m. of an unresponsive man in a vehicle, police said. Police found James Edward Waters, 24, of the 7600 block of Westlake Terrace in Bethesda slumped over the wheel of a truck at the intersection of Nalley Road and Nalley Terrace West of FedEx Field in Landover with a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said. Waters was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Jose Neptaly Molina-Giron, 32, was shot around 9:30 p.m. outside a home he was visiting in the 8600 block of Preston Street in New Carrollton, Prince George's County said.

New Carrollton Police Chief David Rice said the shooting occurred when Molina-Giron, of the 5900 block of Arbor Street in Cheverly, heard the commotion of an acquaintance being robbed outside the home and tried to intervene. He died from his injuries at an area hospital.

Dec. 11<P> After receiving reports of the sound of gunfire at 2:50 a.m., Prince George's County police found a man, unresponsive in a vehicle, in the 8800 block of Hawthorne Lane in Laurel. The man, James Lamont Tinsley, 28, was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jamar Slade Russell, 25, of the 9100 block of Tumbleweed Run in Laurel, police said.

Dec. 17

Prince George's County officers responded to an apartment building in the 4500 block of Banner Street in North Brentwood around 10:50 p.m. Friday for a report of "unknown trouble," police said. When police arrived, they found 33-year-old Ronald Christian Heskee inside his apartment, and he had been shot several times, police said.

Heskee died on the scene and was alone when he was found, police said. Police said investigators suspect the homicide may have occurred during a home invasion.

Dec. 25

An 84-year-old woman was killed and a 26-year-old woman injured in a reported stabbing in Hillcrest Heights, Prince George's County police said.

Officers received a report of a cutting and responded to the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway around 1:30 a.m. They found the 84-year-old woman, who has not been identified, and a 26-year-old woman with "body trauma," police said. The older woman died on the scene and the younger woman was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.
