The Gazette has compiled a list of homicides committed in Prince George's County during 2008 from press releases issued by the county police department. This list on our Web site is updated weekly.

January

Jan. 3

Just before 9 p.m., police found Mohamed A. M. Gaffar-Abelkarim, 23, in the 2400 block of Tucker Road with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Jan. 8

Cherrese Tonya Richardson, 18, was shot just before 5 p.m. in the 9500 block of Ardwick-Ardmore Road. She died two days later in the hospital as a result of her injuries. Two other people were injured during the shooting. Jeffrey Daryl Boddie, 17, Terrance Randal Martin, 18, and Marcus Anthony Reynolds, 19, all of Lanham, were charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Jan. 13

Just before 8 p.m., police found Jacqueline Michelle Campbell, 32, of the 9100 block of Branch View Drive, suffering from gunshot wounds in the 4800 block of Marlboro Pike. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died a short time later.

Jan. 21

Just after 5 p.m., Riverdale Park police found an unidentified man with multiple stab wounds in the 5400 block of Jefferson Street. He was taken to a hospital where he died several hours later. On Jan. 22, police arrested Jose Manuel Velarde, 30, in connection with the stabbing. Police believe the man was stabbed during a dispute.

Jan. 24

Just after 4:30 a.m., officers found Jamaal William Clover, 25, of the 8100 block of Powhatan Street, suffering from gunshot wounds in the 5900 block of Central Avenue. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police believe someone approached him and announced a robbery, then shot him when he tried to run. Clover then stumbled out into the street and was struck by a car. The driver remained on the scene and called police.

Jan. 25

Police arrested Benjamin Perry, 36, in connection with the 2 a.m. shooting of Dewayne Dunmore, 37, in the 3000 block of Caverton Road. Officers who were working in the area heard shots and saw Perry flee the scene in a minivan. They arrested him and found a gun in his car.

Jan. 30

Just before midnight, police responded to the 5000 block of 57th Avenue for the report of a shooting. They found Lashawnda Makeisha Tate, 31, and the suspect, Damien Sharmek Stevens Jr., 28, inside their apartment with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Both were pronounced dead. Police believe Stevens shot Tate, his girlfriend, inside the apartment after getting into a dispute, then shot himself.

Jan. 31

Herbert Todd Hobbs, 30, of the 4800 block of Heath Street, died at a hospital after being shot at about 11:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike. Police believe Hobbs became involved in an altercation with someone outside of a business when that person produced a gun and shot him.

February

Feb. 3

Terrance Lynne Sneed, 22; Curtis Lee Poston, 26; and Charles Dontee Harrison, 25, were shot at the Uno’s Chicago Pizzeria in the 1100 block of Shoppers Way. Tron Stephen Johnson, 21, of the 2100 block of Ohio Avenue was arrested Feb. 5 and charged with first-degree murder. Sneed was pronounced dead on the scene; Poston and Harrison died a short time later at a hospital. Police believe the victims got into a dispute with Johnson.

Feb. 19

Just before 4 p.m., police officers found Herman Tutt Jr., 22, of the 900 block of Logwood Road lying in a stairwell in the 4100 block of Warner Avenue with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Tutt’s family had reported him missing on Feb. 17 and were concerned that he did not have his medication. Police do not know how he got to that area.

Feb. 23

Just before 5 a.m., police found Alton Anthony Ashman, 27, of the 14700 block of Normandy Court sitting in the driver’s seat of a car at Adelphi and Metzerott roads with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Feb. 25

Just after midnight, police found Tyler Lee Ruffin Jr., 40, of the 4700 block of Colonel Gates Court on Marcy Avenue with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Feb. 29

Just after 9 a.m., police found Dominique Emanuel McFadden, 26, of the 800 block of Marcy Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Police learned the security guards working at the apartment complex investigated two armed men near the rear of the complex. As the guards confronted the men, both displayed handguns and pointed them at the guards. In fear for his safety, one of the guards shot McFadden with his issued firearm and the second man fled on foot.

Feb. 29

At about 2 p.m., Hyattsville police responded to the 6500 block of Belcrest Road for the report of a shooting. They found Donald James Smalls Jr., 19, of the 6500 block of Belcrest Road in an apartment with a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.

March

March 3

Just after 6 a.m., police found William Jerome Gillespie Jr., 38, of the 6600 block of District Heights Parkway outside his home suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police believe he went to retrieve something from his car and was shot.

March 3

At about 11:30 p.m., police found Xavier Marlo Benton, 25, of the 1400 block of Fenwood Avenue, along with another adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1500 block of Birchwood Drive. The second victim was treated for a non-life-threatening injury. Police believe the victims were outside the house when someone approached them. An argument ensued and the person fired several shots, then fled.

March 5

Just after 5 p.m., police responded to the 1600 block of Village Green Drive and found Antwon Cortez Edwards, 22, of the 1100 block of Dutton Way suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

March 8

At about 11:10 a.m., police found an unidentified Hispanic male lying unconscious in a vacant apartment in the 1400 block of University Boulevard. He was pronounced dead. Police believe he suffered blunt force trauma to the lower body and have ruled the death a homicide.

March 15

Cindy Xiomara Sorto-Reyes, 20, of Greenbelt was found suffering from a gunshot wound in her home in the 5900 block of Cherrywood Lane. Police allege Armando Sanchez Sr., 40, of Washington, D.C. is responsible for her death.

March 22

At about 5:30 a.m., police responded to the 2400 block of Brightseat Road for the report of a cutting. They found Yoni Alonso Hernandez-Guillen, 28, of the 2300 block of Brightseat Road, with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

March 26

At about 8:40 p.m., Hyattsville police officers responded to the 3300 block of Manorwood Drive to find four Hispanic men who had been shot. One man was pronounced dead on the scene. The three other men were taken to local hospitals and one was pronounced dead a short time later. According to witness accounts, the four men were headed to an event when three black men in dark clothing, at least one with a gun, approached them and robbed them. After robbing them, one man shot them. The three men then fled in a dark-colored sedan.

April

April 1

Just before 8:30 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Roosevelt Avenue for the report of a cutting and found Salomon Noubissie, 64, of the same address, suffering from a stab wound to the upper body. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police believe Noubissie was assaulting a woman who lived at the home. Her 12-year-old son intervened and attempted to stop the man from choking his mother. In fear for his mother's safety, he stabbed Noubissie once in the upper body to stop the assault. At this time, no charges have been filed.

April 2

At about 3 a.m., police responded to the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for the report of a shooting and found Sharad Corday Leggon, 21, of the 6600 block of Ronald Road, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At about 2:45 p.m., police found a 15-year-old male with stab wounds in the 6000 block of Good Luck Road. He was taken to a local hospital and died a short time later. Police believe he was walking along the sidewalk when a tan colored vehicle pulled up next to him. Someone got out of the vehicle, confronted him and stabbed him, then fled.

Just before 9 p.m., police responded to the 5600 block of Whitfield Chapel Road after a resident called and reported a shooting inside his apartment. Police found Troy Antonio Gordon, 31, address unknown, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The man was visiting friends; circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.

April 3

Just before 1 a.m., police responded to the 3400 block of 52nd Avenue and found Troy Jerome Lyles, 27, of the 4300 block of 3rd Street in Washington, D.C., lying in the parking lot of a liquor store. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he got in an altercation with a group of people and arrested Raynard A. Dugger, 22, of the 6200 block of Maxwell Drive on April 15.

April 5

Just before 6:30 a.m., police responded to the 4700 block of 66th Place for the report of a shooting and found Robert Reid, 31, of the 900 block of University Boulevard in the basement of a home with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. Police believe he was shot during an altercation with someone at a party at the residence.

April 8

Just after 12:15 p.m., police responded to the 6500 block of Hil Mar Drive for the report of an assault and found Jeffrey Shane George, 33, of the same address, dead. The death was ruled a homicide.

April 13

At about 3 a.m., police responded to the 5600 block of 67th Avenue for the report of an injured male. When they arrived, they found Ausencio Santos Lugo, 23, of the 5700 block of 64th Avenue with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he may have been involved in an altercation prior to being injured. Police are looking into the possibility that the incident may have been gang-related.

Just before 2 p.m., police responded to the 2100 block of Alice Avenue for the report of an unconscious female and found Sheena Marie Day, 24, of the same address, in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested Gary Theodore McKinley, 25, of the same address, who was Day’s boyfriend. They allege McKinley shot Day as the result of a domestic incident.

April 15

Just after 8 p.m., officers responded to the wooded area in the 9600 block of Gwynndale Drive for the report of a stabbing and found Steven Paul Williams, 28, of the 1100 block of Centennial Drive and a 21-year-old man from Fort Washington with stab wounds to the upper body. Williams was pronounced dead on the scene and the second man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

April 17

Just before 6 p.m., police responded to the 3200 block of Walters Lane for the report of a shooting and found Timotheus Tracy Fitzgerald Jr., 23, of the 12800 block of Meadowbrook Lane in Waldorf with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

April 25

Just before 3 p.m., police responded to the 7900 block of Riggs Road for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, they found John Realpe Montoya, 29, of the 1800 block of Jasmine Terrace with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are investigating the incident.

May

May 2

Just after 7:15 p.m., police responded to the 8000 block of Riggs Road for the report of a stabbing and found Erlli Amillcar Fuentes, 26, of the 9400 block of Adelphi Road with stab wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

May 3

Just before 6 a.m., Edmonston police officers responded to the 5000 block of Buchannon Street for the report of a shooting and found Casey Stephanie Smallwood, 19, of the 4800 block of Addison Road with gunshot wounds to the upper body. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

May 4

Just before 4 a.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Merrimac Drive for the report of a fight and found Isaias Lopez-Vail, 34, of the 1300 block of Merrimac Drive with blunt force trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police arrested Cesar Euelder Carbajal-Aldana, 26, of the 1300 block of Merrimac Drive in connection with the crime. Police allege the men got into an argument at a party and Carbajal-Aldana beat Lopez-Vail with a baseball bat until he lost consciousness. He was charged with first-degree murder and taken to the Department of Corrections with no bond.

May 9

Just before 10:30 p.m., police responded to the 5300 block of Quincy Place for the report of a shooting and found Steve Dowtin, 22, of the 2300 block of Kent Village Drive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

May 12

Just after 11 a.m., Maryland Park Police officers responded to the 6300 block of Sligo Parkway for the report of an unresponsive male and found the body of an adult male in a wooded area with trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

May 13

Just before 7:30 p.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Java Place for a check on a welfare report and found Phillip Curtis Robinson, 47, of the 1100 block of Java Place with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

May 20

Just after noon, police responded to the 3000 block of LaDova Way for the report of an unconscious female and found Antoinette Renee Chase, 47, of the same address, lying on the kitchen floor unresponsive. She was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death as homicide.

May 22

Just before 10:15 p.m., police responded to the 4000 block of 28th Avenue in Mount Rainier for the report of a shooting and found Gary David Randall, 23, of the 2800 block of 31st St. S.E. in Washington, D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, an adult female, was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

May 31

At about 12:45 a.m., Mount Rainier Police officers responded to the 3700 block of 36th Street for the report of a shooting and found two men who had been shot. One was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The second man, Rennie Jeffrey Mason, 26, of the 3700 block of 36th Place was shot in the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored sedan leaving the area just after the shooting.

May 28

At about 7:40 p.m., police responded to the 4900 block of Annapolis Road for the report of an assault and found Aboubacar Camara, 56, of the 3800 block of Thornwood Road with injuries to his upper body.

According to charging documents, Camara was walking toward steps that lead to the rear of Bladensburg Elementary School. Caliasha Vaughn, 14, of Riverdale allegedly waited at the top of the steps and asked for a cigarette when Camara reached the top. When Camara told Vaughn he did not smoke, Regina Young-Bey, 15, of Bladensburg bumped him with her shoulder and knocked him to the ground.

While he was on the ground, Vaughn and Young-Bey, as well as Marcus Williams, 14, and Justin McBride, 15, both of Bladensburg, allegedly kicked Camara until he was coughing up blood and continued to kick him. McBride stole a pack of cigarettes and McBride stole one of Camara's shoes after spitting on him, the charging documents allege.

Camara died May 30 and an autopsy ruled his death as a homicide. The teens have been arrested and charged as adults.

June

June 3

At about 10 a.m., police responded to the 5400 block of 16th Avenue for the report of a shooting and found Clifton George Oconnor Clarke, 45, of the 9500 block of Muirkirk Road with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

June 13

At almost 11 p.m., police responded to the 6300 block of Arwen Court for the report of a shooting and found Phillip Michael Harley, 21, of the 6200 block of Barrowfield Court with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

June 15

Just before 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Zelma Avenue for the report of a shooting and found John Charles Crawford, 28, of the same address unconscious inside his home. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he may have been shot after confronting someone who was about to burglarize his home. After the shooting, the person fled in an unknown vehicle.

June 15

Just after 8:15 a.m., police responded to the 1600 block of Roosevelt Avenue for the report of an unconscious male and found Chauncey Stepson Harris, 29, of the 200 block of 37th Street in southeast Washington, D.C., on the ground with trauma to his upper body. He was pronounced dead.

June 17

Just after 11:30 p.m., police responded to the 6800 block of Atwood Street for the report of a shooting and found a 17-year-old man and Kenyatta Genea Boodram, 17, of the 5900 block of E. Bonnie Wood Turn with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Both were transported to a local hospital, where the woman died. The man and woman were standing with a group of people on Atwood Street when someone on foot fired shots into the crowd. No arrests have been made and police are still working to establish a motive.

June 18

At about 4:45 a.m., police responded to the 1400 block of Kanawha Street for the report of a shooting and found an unidentified Hispanic man lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

June 19

Just before noon, police responded to the 6600 block of Ronald Road for the report of a shooting and found two people suffering with gunshot wounds. One, Saahir Abdul-Ali, 35, of the 1300 block of Iron Forge Road, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. The second man, 41, was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Police believe the victims may have been targeted.

Just before 11 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Vista Way for the report of a car accident and found Jin Chin, 21, of the 4700 block of Raleigh Road unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police believe robbery may have been a motive.

June 26

Shortly after 1:45 a.m., police responded to the 3500 block of Hubbard Road for the report of a shooting and found Mario Enrique Aroyo-Granjales, 24, of the 3800 block of Good Luck Road at the entrance to an apartment building with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police believe he was shot during an attempted robbery. After the shooting, a suspect fled in a green mini-van.

June 27

At about 11:40 a.m., Cpl. Richard Findley, a county police officer, was struck by a pickup truck in the 14700 block of Bowie Road. Police say that as Findley approached the vehicle, the driver struck him and fled. Findley was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Police have arrested Ronnie Lionel White, 19, in connection to what they have ruled to be a homicide. He has been charged with first-degree murder. The incident is still under investigation.

June 29

Ronnie L. White, 19, of North Laurel was found strangled to death in a county correctional center cell in Upper Marlboro after he was charged in the June 27 death of county police officer Cpl. Richard Findley. White allegedly ran over Findley with a stolen truck as he was trying to escape, according to police documents. Findley later died of severe head injuries. The state medical examiner's preliminary findings rule White's death a homicide by strangulation. He was place alone in a cell, away from other inmates, which is procedure with high-profile inmates. The FBI and state police are investigating White's death.

Shortly after 8 p.m., police responded to the 6700 block of Red Top Road for the report of a stabbing and found Michael Rene Tucker, 56, of the same address inside an office area room with a stab wound to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. Police believe Tucker and his son, Michael Rene Tucker Jr., were involved in a verbal dispute and the son stabbed his father and fled. Officers found and arrested him. He was charged with first-degree murder and remanded to the Department of Corrections on no bond.

July

July 6

Just before 10:30 a.m., police from the Hyattsville City Police Department responded to the 6000 block of 37th Avenue for the report of an unconscious male and found Nestor Santiago Aguirre-Catalan, 20, of that address unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Eyewitness accounts lead county police to the arrest of Jose Miquel Estrada-Fuentes, 22, also of that address. Police learned the men were involved in a physical altercation the day before. Estrada-Fuentes was charged with second-degree murder and remanded to the Department of Corrections with no bond.

July 8

Just before 8 p.m., police responded to the 6200 block of Maxwell drive after a relative went to check on the welfare of April Sherese Dickens, 34, of the 6200 block of Maxwell Drive and found her unresponsive. Police found her with trauma to her upper body and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

July 21

Just before 8 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Veterans Monument and 60th places for the report of a shooting and found Antoine Charles McCray, 33, of the 800 block of Cypress Point Circle lying in a grassy area with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died a short time later. Police believe he got into an altercation with an unknown person, who shot him.

July 26

Just after 10 p.m., police responded to the 2500 block of Markham Lane and found Michael Javier Stennett, 36, of the 12000 block of Guinevere Place with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

July 27

At about 12:10 a.m., police responded to the intersection of Quimby Avenue and Amelia Avenue for a report of an assault and found Kenneth Powell, 56, of the 4300 block of Chestnut Grove Lane with trauma to the upper body. Powell was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on July 29.

July 29

Just before 10 p.m., Riverdale Park Police responded to the 5600 block of 54th Avenue for the report of a shooting and found Luis Miguel Chavez, 22, of the 5400 block of Riverdale Road with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

July 31

Just before 9 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of East Mill Avenue for a report of a shooting and found Paul Trevon Blackwell, 26, of the 100 block of East Mill Avenue, with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Blackwell was transported to a local area hospital where he died a short time later. Police believe the motive was robbery and are working to develop suspect information.

August

Aug. 7

Just before 8:30 p.m., police responded to the 2500 block of Pinebrook Avenue for the report of a shooting and found James Alexander Wood Jr., 49, of the 4000 block of Warner Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later. Police arrested Jeffrey Earl Coward Jr., 24, of the 6500 block of Forest Terrace. He was charged with first-degree murder and remanded to the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

Aug. 13

At about 10:07 p.m., police discovered Leon Albert Maiden, 38, of the 6500 block of Hil-Mar Drive suffering from gun shot wounds to his upper body in the 7700 block of Landover Road. Maiden was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Police believe a carjacking may have been the motive behind the shooting.

At about 10:20 p.m., Prince George's County Police responded to the 6100 block of Old Central Avenue to find Denver Kenneth Cannedy, 19, of the 500 block of Capitol Heights Boulevard laying in the street with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Aug.16

At about 3:52 p.m., an off-duty Prince George's County police officer who was working as a security guard as secondary employment at an apartment complex in the 8000 block of 14th Avenue in Langley Park, saw Manuel de Jesus Espina, 43, of the 8000 block of 14th Avenue committing an alleged alcohol violation in an apartment stairwell. When the officer, Pfc. Steven Jackson, a four-year veteran assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, attempted to arrest Espina, he resisted and began to fight the officer. During the physical altercation, Jackson deployed his issued pepper spray and ASP baton but Espina continued to resist. A second man, Manuel de Jesus Espina Jacome, 26, Espin'as son, arrived on the scene and both men tried to take the officers ASP baton. The officer, fearing for his life, discharged his issued firearm, striking Espina in the torso. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Jacome, also of the 8000 block of 14th Avenue, was arrested on the scene without incident. Jackson sustained minor injuries. He has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.

Aug. 23

At about 9:44 p.m., police responded to the 104000 block of Farrar Avenue for the report of a shooting and found Glenn C. Ellis, 12, of the 13500 block of Duhart Road with a gunshot wound to the upper body. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died. Police believe Ellis and some other teenagers were upstairs in a bedroom playing on a computer when one of them came across an unsecured shotgun. As they were playing with it, one of the teens discharged the weapon and struck Ellis in the upper body.

Aug. 24

At about 2:13 p.m., police responded to the 6600 block of Central Avenue for the report of a stabbing and found Christopher Quattlebaum, 48, of the 200 block of Red Jade Drive in a car with stab wounds to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Police believe Quattlebaum approached the suspect for unknown reasons and attempted to punch him prior to being stabbed.

Aug. 27

At about 6:19 p.m., police responded to 3 Cindy Lane for the report of a shooting and found two people suffering with gunshot wounds. Archie Lee Davis Jr., 35, of the 1300 block of Karen Boulevard, was found inside an apartment and pronounced dead on the scene. A 20-year-old man was found nearby and taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Police believe there was a prior altercation between two groups of men and the victims may have been targeted.

Aug. 28

At about 11:51 p.m., police responded to the 2400 block of Chillum Road for the report of a shooting and found Gregory Barron Jr., 33, of the 5700 block of Queens Chapel Road with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police believe he was working as a bouncer at the Mustang's Nightclub at the time of the shooting and may have gotten involved in an altercation with the suspect, who fled the scene.

September

Sept. 3

At about 8:52 p.m., police responded to the 2600 block of Shadyside Avenue for the report of a shooting and found two people suffering with gunshot wounds. One, Anthony Maurice Savoy III, 8 months old, of the 2600 block of Shadyside Road was found inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead on the scene. A 22-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Sept. 8

At about 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the 9300 block of Snowhill Estates Lane for a report of a shooting and found Ceasar Baban Bolabo, 51, of the same address, lying on the ground of the garage with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and remained in critical condition. At about 2:49 p.m. Sept. 19, Bolabo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he was returning home from work when he was approached by the suspect in his garage. After a brief altercation, the suspect shot him in the upper body and fled in an unknown direction of travel. Investigators believe the motive was robbery and are working to develop suspect information.

Sept. 17

At about 12:05 a.m., officers responded to the 6800 block of Greig Street for a report of an unconscious man and found Curtis Lamont Williams, 28, of the 7000 block of Greig Court with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Williams was pronounced dead on the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that Williams and a second victim were sitting outside of an apartment building in the 7000 block of Greig Court talking, when someone walked up to them, displayed a handgun and began shooting. The second victim fled the scene and went to a local hospital. He was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries. Williams was located a short distance away. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. Investigators are working to develop suspect information and establish a motive.

Sept. 20

At about 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Holly Drive for a report of a suspicious person and found Andrew Dakota Johnson, 22, of the 2300 block of Pitts Place, SE, Washington, D.C., lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A second victim was also found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body and taken to a local area hospital in critical condition.

Sept. 24

At about 2:03 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Branch Avenue and Iverson Street for a report of an accident and found a disabled vehicle with two adult men nearby suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to a local hospital where one died a short time later. The second man was listed in critical condition. Investigators are working to identify suspects and establish a motive.

Sept. 24

At about 11:50 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Glacier Avenue in Capitol Heights for a report of gunshots and found David Jamal Harper, 27, of the 500 block of Drum Ave in Capitol Heights with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police believe Harper was standing outside when several unknown people approached him. Several of the people displayed handguns and began shooting at Harper. They fled the scene and Harper was later found a short distance away. Police are working to develop suspect information and establish a motive.

Sept. 26

At about 9:50 p.m., police responded to the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park for a report of a shooting and found Rigoberto Rouqu Portela, 50, of an unknown address, in front of this location suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. Police believe an argument between known acquaintances escalated inside of the apartment building. During the dispute, a man shot Portela and fled the scene.

Sept. 27

At about 11:54 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Glacier Avenue in Capitol Heights for the report of a shooting and found a woman with gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are working to develop suspect information and a motive has not been established.

October

Oct. 4

At about 9:17 p.m., officers responded to the 8400 block of Hamlin Street in Glenarden for a report of a shooting and found four adult victims with gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local area hospital where 21 year-old Antwan Sorrell of the 8400 block of Hamlin Street died a short time later.

Oct. 7

At about 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Nalley Road in Landover for a report of a vehicle accident. Police found three people in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. The three victims were transported to local hospitals where as Bobby Ennels, 22, of the 7600 block of Mill Race Road in Capitol Heights was pronounced dead. Anthony Cash, 22, of the 7400 block Calder Drive in Capitol Heights died a short time later.

Oct. 9

At about 9:23 p.m., officers responded to the 4300 block of Torque Street in Capitol Heights for the report of a shooting and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment. On Oct. 16, one of the victims, Antwain Maurice Simpson, 27, of the 4000 block of Vine Street in Capitol Heights succumbed to his injuries. Police believe both men were standing outside when the suspects in a dark colored sport utility vehicle pulled up to them and began firing several shots at the victims before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

Oct. 14

At about 6:37 p.m., officers responded to the 5200 block of Flintridge Drive in Landover Hills for the report of a shooting and found Wayne Alan Lipford, 43, of Hyattsville on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Oct. 15

At about 11:23 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Avanti Place in Landover for the report of a shooting and found an adult male, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police arrested Christian Ellsworth Brooks, 25, of the 7700 block of Merrick Lane in Landover in connection with the crime. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Oct. 21

At about 1:28 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Michele Court in Landover for the report of a shooting and found George Jerome White Jr., 40, of the 6700 block of Berkshire Drive in Temple Hills lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. Police arrested Tommy Whack, 19, of the 7600 block of Covent Garden Court in connection with the crime.

Oct. 22

At about 12:33 a.m., an officer on routine patrol near the area of Gallatin Street and 42nd Place in Hyattsville found Pedro Luis Hernandez, 20, of the 5200 block of 42nd Avenue in Hyattsville lying in the road with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Oct. 28

At about 5:34 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Walters Lane in Forestville to check on the welfare of a man lying on the ground. Upon arrival, officers observed an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Maurice Stanley Alton, 29, of the 6400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Forestville was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nov. 1

At about 12:09 a.m., officers responded to the 10600 block of Broadleaf Drive in Upper Marlboro, Maryland for a report of an accident. Upon arrival, officers found Andre Labell Hayes, 32, of the 6300 block of Brooke Jane Drive in Clinton inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Nov. 2

At about 1:44 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Walters Lane in Forestville for a report of a shooting and found two victims with gunshot wounds. One, Levar Tyran Jones, 29, of the 3700 block of Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The second, a 28 year-old man, was found nearby also with a gunshot wound to his upper body and transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

At about 11:20 a.m., police responded to the 4900 block of Beech Road in Temple Hills for the report of a body near the road and found Jayvon Thaddoux Johnson, 16, of the 7100 block of Eisenhower Court in Temple Hills with trauma to his upper body.

Nov. 3

At about 5:40 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Ceadarwood Court in Landover for the report of a shooting and found Daryl Tyrone Clark, 36, of the same address, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nov. 7

At about 8:14 a.m., police responded to Cedar Hill Cemetery, located in the 4000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Suitland, for a report of two bodies being found. Both victims, adult males, were located inside the cemetery with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead on scene.

At about 10:13 p.m., police responded to the 5000 block of Wilkins Drive in Temple Hillsfor the report of a shooting and found Charles Leroy Ware, 53, of the 5000 block of Wilkins Drive lying in a yard with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nov. 8

Eddie Lawrence Anderson, 30, of the 5900 block of Fisher Road in Oxon Hill was re-admitted to the hospital and died from injuries he sustained during an Oct. 20 shooting in the 1400 block of Southern Avenue in Upper Marlboro. At that time, he was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

Nov. 9

At about 7:06 p.m., police responded to the 4100 block of Apple Orchard Court in Suitland for a report of a shooting and found Deangelo Kevin Alston, 19, of the 800 block of Marcy Avenue in Oxon Hill suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Alston was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nov. 12

At about 5:31 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Virginia Lane and Saint Barnabas Road in Oxon Hill for the report of a shooting and found Sean Nicholas Green, 31, of the 2700 block of Alice Avenue in Oxon Hill inside his vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Green was taken to a local area hospital where he later died.

Nov. 24

At about 3:12 a.m., police responded to the 6800 block of Central Avenue in Capitol Heights for the report of a single-car accident and found Marcel Dessin, 22, of the 4700 block of 15th St. NW in Washington, D.C., inside the car with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nov. 29

At about 2:20 a.m., police responded to Greater Southeast Hospital for the report of a shooting and homicide. Victims told police they were driving home to Washington, D.C., on Route 5 after going to the Icon Nightclub in the 2100 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. Victims said as they reached the intersection of Branch Avenue and Coventry Way, someone pulled up next to them and fired a single shot into their car, striking Kordero Maurice Howard, 21, of the 2800 block of Raynold Place SE in Washington, D.C., in the upper body. The victims drove him to the hospital, where he died.

Dec. 2

At about 11:03 p.m., police responded to the 5600 block of Landover Road in Cheverly for the report of an unresponsive person lying on the ground and found Jose. A Munoz, 26, of the 5100 block of Quincy Street on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Dec. 3

At about 6:23 p.m. police responded to the 6000 block of Longfellow Street in Riverdale for the report of an unresponsive child and found Savannah Michelle Brandon unresponsive and in critical condition. She was taken to Children's National Medical Center, where she died Dec. 4 An autopsy performed Dec. 5 determined the cause of death was trauma to the upper body, and the death was ruled a homicide. The baby's father, Lamarcus Brandon, 24, of the same address, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Dec. 6

Dec. 11

At about 10:02 a.m., police responded to the 5400 block of Addison Road in Fairmonnt Heights for the report of an unresponsive man lying on the ground and found Rashad Tavon McMillan, 16, of the 6800 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights behind a building with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Dec. 19

At about 10:38p.m., police responded to the 2300 block of Iverson Street in Temple Hills for the report of an unresponsive man lying on the ground and found Taij Damielle Payne, 31, of the 2900 block of Pomeroy Road S.E. in Washington DC, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Dec. 27

Prince George's County police said at about 1:10 a.m., Metropolitan Police found Arthur Lorenzo Butler, 59, of the 4900 block of A Street in Washington, D.C., in his residence suffering from an upper body stab wound. Butler was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Prince George's County police allege Butler's girlfriend, Linda Slye, 58, also of the 4900 block of A Street, stabbed Butler after an argument at a party in the 1500 block of Karen Boulevard in Capitol Heights.

Officer Henry Tippett, a county police spokesman, said friends at the party thought Butler had passed out and were unaware of the stabbing because he bled internally. Tippett said friends drove the couple back to D.C. Tippett said he did not know who called the police. Slye was arrested the same day Butler was found.
