January

Jan. 1

Antonio Thomas Jermaine Matthews was shot and killed in the 3400 block of Dodge Park Road in Hyattsville. Matthews, who was found by police with gunshots wounds to his upper body, was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

Jan. 3

A District man was shot and killed by Prince George’s County police in the 6600 block of Riverdale Road in Riverdale. Mark Antonio Washington, 43, was chased by police cruisers, lost control of his vehicle on a Baltimore Washington Parkway ramp and was surrounded by officers. Washington rammed his vehicle into the police cars, prompting officers to fire on the vehicle. Two officers were injured in the incident. Washington was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jan. 6

Brenda Gail Ryans, 42, was shot and killed in the 5400 block of 56th Avenue in Bladensburg while standing outside an apartment building. Police said two suspects approached Ryans, who had no fixed address, shot her and fled.

Jan. 9

A security guard making a regular check of an industrial area in the 4400 block of Lottsford Vista Road in Bowie found Yehuda Erez-Kdosa slumped over a car in the parking lot just after 10 p.m. Erez-Kdosa, 56, a California resident, was inspecting a piece of property he recently bought when he was shot to death, according to police. He was in town visiting family in the Bowie area, police said.

Jan. 12

Police found 7-11 employee Bekuretsion Gebreamlak dead in his store on Livingston Road in Fort Washington after gunshots were reported. Gebreamlak, 57, a Suitland resident, was shot once in the upper body and died at the scene. The suspect, a light-skinned black male wearing sunglasses and gloves, entered the store, brandished a gun and demanded money. The suspect shot Gebreamlak and fled the scene, according to police.

Jan. 17

A dispute between a woman’s ex-boyfriend and her current partner ended in the shooting death of Joseph Lavelle Thompson, 25. Thompson was found by county police lying on the sidewalk in front of a single-family home in the 220 block of Vermont Avenue in Hyattsville. Nathan Matthews of Hyattsville was charged with second-degree murder.

Jan. 18

Brenda Collington was shot and killed inside her District Heights apartment by her husband, Lawrence Collington. Lawrence Collington, 53, told county police he shot his wife during a heated argument just before noon. Brenda Collington suffered gunshot wounds to her upper body. Lawrence Collington received treatment for non-life threatening injuries and was charged with first-degree murder.

Jan. 20

District resident Otis Ross was found dead after suffering multiple gunshot wounds on Bunker Hill Road in Brentwood. County officers responded to a call of gunshots being fired, and found Ross, 32, at the scene. He was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he died.

Jan. 22

Landover resident Antoine Allen died when he was shot several times in the upper body on Saville Lane in Bowie. Prince George’s police have not released further details about the case.

Jan. 22

Seria Robertson was stabbed to death by a man who attacked her from behind a trash dumpster on Kennebec Street in Oxon Hill around midnight. Robertson, 20, a District resident, was found by county police lying behind the dumpster with stab wounds to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested and charged Edwin Keith Harris, 21, also a District resident, with first-degree murder. Investigators said Robertson and Harris were dating.

Jan. 24

Prince George’s Police Cpl. Keith Washington allegedly fired gunshots at two Marlo furniture movers in his Accokeek home, killing one man and injuring the other. Washington, a 16-year veteran of the county police department, opened fire on the movers after an argument escalated. Brandon Clark, 22, an Oxon Hill resident, died after being taken to Prince George’s Hospital Center. Robert White, 36, was in critical condition, but survived the gunshot wounds.

Jan. 27

Two men robbed Fort Washington Liquors in the 10200 block of Old Fort Road in the afternoon. An employee, Seong-Hoon No, 32, was shot and killed, while another suffered life-threatening injuries. The suspects, Zachary Anthony Johnson and Joseph Lloyd Caulfield, allegedly stole money and fled on foot. They were later arrested and charged in Atlantic City, N.J.

Jan. 28

Darius Berry was sitting on a couch in his ground floor, Oxon Hill apartment when someone fired a shot through his sliding glass door. Berry, 20, was killed by the single gunshot. Police could not determine if the gunman targeted Berry or if it was a random shooting.

Jan. 28

Travis Lashawn Robinson of Suitland was shot and killed during an early morning skirmish outside J’s Sports Café in Laurel. As county police approached two groups of people arguing and fighting, a gunshot rang out and police found Robinson, 29, lying on the ground. He was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Jan. 28

Junius Roundtree Jr. of Clinton was the victim of a hit and run in the 4800 block of Saint Barnabas Road in Temple Hills just before 8 p.m. Roundtree, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was crossing the road when he was struck by a dark-colored vehicle that could have sustained damage to the front end, police said.

Jan. 30

Police are still trying to identify the victim of a homicide in the 7200 block of Joplin Road in Seat Pleasant. County police found a black male in his early-to-mid-20s suffering from upper body trauma. The man died shortly after being found. Investigators have not established a motive.

February

Feb. 6

Kelvin Jackson of Capitol Heights was shot several times on his front porch in the 500 block of Cedarleaf Avenue in Capitol Heights. Jackson was seen an hour earlier walking with two or three men, who fled the scene after gunshots were fired, according to police reports.

Feb. 7

Edgardo Carlos Fuentes, a Hyattsville resident, was found with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the floor of his laundry room apartment. A neighbor called police, who declared Fuentes, 36, dead at the scene. Police said residents heard gunshots about an hour before a neighbor found Fuentes’ body.

Feb. 11

Courtney Lawrence Manning, 16, of Bowie was found dead in his Cadillac at the intersection of Pine View and Woodyard Road in Clinton after suffering a gunshot wound to the upper body. Manning’s friends said he and a group of people were fired on by men in a black, four-door car with tinted windows after they left Clinton’s Club Neon. Another person was shot, but survived, according to police.

Feb. 13

Sean Bolaji Oderinde of Hyattsville was shot in the upper body and killed during a nighttime robbery in the 4000 block of Coopers Lane in Landover Hills. Police found Oderinde, 18, lying on the ground outside an apartment building. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died the next day. Michael Anthony Clarke, 26, of Colmar Manor was later arrested and charged with the crime.

Feb. 26

Hilmar Barillas of Hyattsville was killed in a hit and run during rush hour in the 5200 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale. Police said Barillas, 38, was struck by a vehicle when he exited his car after getting into a traffic accident.

Feb. 27

Randall Wade Harvey, a Mount Rainier resident, was shot and killed as he fled from the armed suspect near his home. Responding to reports of gunfire, police found Harvey, 25, dead at the scene. He attempted to escape the gunman by jumping out of the rear window of an apartment building, according to county police.

March

March 1

Carlos Cordon, who had been reported missing to Montgomery County police, was found dead in the 7900 block of 14th Avenue in Hyattsville. Cordon, 35, a Silver Spring resident, was the victim of a homicide, police said. Reports did not specify how he was killed.

March 2

Melvin Austin Reid was found dead around 4 p.m. after suffering gunshot wounds to his upper body in the 4200 block of Pear Street in Capitol Heights. Reid, 29, was seen in an altercation with the suspect before he was killed. The suspect fled immediately after the shooting, police said.

March 2

Ricardo Alfredo Carbajal, a Hyattsville resident, was found with multiple stab wounds in the 2000 block of University Boulevard in Hyattsville. He was transported to a hospital, where he died three days later, according to county police. Police are searching for a suspect.

March 4

Kimberly Denise Dabney of Hyattsville was shot and killed by her bother-in-law, Latez Cornell Cooper, 38, a Fort Washington resident, at noon in the 11200 block of Hannah Way in Upper Marlboro. Cooper, who was separated from his wife, drove to her home, got out of his car and shot Dabney as she stood on the sidewalk. Cooper grabbed his wife, shot her and killed himself. His wife was admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

March 4

Police found the decomposed body of a man lying near a creek in the 3100 block of Powder Mill Road in Hyattsville. The victim did not have identification, according to reports.

March 5

Jorge Sigueroa-Ortiz of College Park was found by county police sitting unconscious in the 12300 block of Clonnie Place in Beltsville around 11 p.m. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

March 9

Jeff Powell, 16, of the District, was found shot to death March 9, in the 5700 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill. Officers responded to a report of a male unconscious on the ground and found Powell suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

March 11

Maurice Thomas Powell of Capitol Heights was found by police with a single gunshot to his upper body near the intersection of Daimler Drive and Central Avenue in Capitol Heights. Powell and two of his friends were walking home from a movie around 1:30 a.m. when they were followed by a group of four men. Powell and his friends ran and the group fired several shots. Powell was hit in the upper body and his friends escaped without injury, police said. The suspects fled on foot.

March 16

Theodora Summers was inside her Lanham home when a stray bullet struck her around 5 p.m. The bullet was one of many fired during a drive-by shooting that injured a 24-year-old male, according to police. The suspects fled in two vehicles, one light colored and one dark colored. Police discovered 40-year-old Summers’ body when her sister noticed she did not show up for work that night.

March 17

Brian Francis Bell of Clinton was shot to death after getting in a fender bender in the parking lot of a Hyattsville restaurant. Bell, 21, was rear-ended by the driver of a white Toyota Camry, who proceeded to fire several shots at Bell’s car outside Mad Chef Café. He was hit in the upper body and died shortly after. The suspect fled after the shooting, according to police.

March 17

A man was shot and killed in the 5300 block of Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill after he refused to hand over money to an armed suspect. Police found the victim — who has not been positively identified — lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police reports.

March 17

Derrick Taylor, a 19-year-old District man, was shot and killed by two suspects who opened fire in the hallway of an apartment in the 3800 block of Regency Drive in Suitland. Another man was wounded during the shooting, according to police.

March 18

Carlos Webb, 39, of Alexandria was found shot to death in the 9500 block of Glenn Way, Fort Washington. Webb was found lying on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

March 20

James Harvey Bowie was shot multiple times in his apartment building in the 3200 block of Swann Road in Suitland. Bowie, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. County police said they are looking for a black SUV that fled the scene shortly after gunshots were reported in the apartment.

March 21

Keith Dreher, 27, was shot to death in the 5300 block of Indian Head Highway in Oxon Hill after he refused to hand over money. Dreher was found lying on the ground in the parking lot of a Papa John's with a single gunshot wound to the upper body.

March 22

David Michael Sloley, 24, was shot in the 4800 block of Allentown Road in Camp Springs. Sloley, of the 500 block of 67th Place, Seat Pleasant, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are looking for a small white car that was seen leaving the scene at a high speed.

March 22

Ebenezer Ankuma, 52, was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body near Toledo Terrace in Hyattsville. Ankuma, of the 3400 block of Toledo Terrace, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Police suspect the victim may have been shot during a robbery as he was walking to his home.

March 26

Dwayne Christopher Franklin, 19, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 800 block of Marcy Avenue in Oxon Hill. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police detectives say they believe Franklin was being pursued in the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue by a man who began firing at him.

March 27

Dwight Smith, of the 5000 block of Lee Jay Court in Capitol Heights, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 6500 block of Hil Mar Drive in District Heights. Police found Smith, 32, lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

April

April 1

Police responded to a call from a woman who had found a body in the 2700 block of Firehouse Road in Landover Hills. The victim was identified as Terrick Lamar Garris, 23, of the 7300 block of Goodland Drive in Hyattsville, When police arrived on the scene they found Garris lying near a creek. He had gunshot wounds to the upper body and had been set on fire. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

April 2

Kenneth Cameron, 51, of the 5100 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Hyattsville, called 911 after he reportedly killed his mother. Police arrived at the scene and found 71-year-old Ester Mae Cameron lying on the living room floor with trauma to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigative reports the suspect got into a verbal argument with his mother, retrieved a hammer and struck her several times. After the assault he called the police and told them what had transpired. He was charged with first degree murder.

April 8

Keenan Wynn Kearse, 38, was found inside his apartment in the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway in Temple Hills, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigative reports suggest that Kearse was inside of his apartment when the suspects knocked on his door. Once inside, the suspects brandished a gun, demanded money and shot the victim. The suspects fled the apartment after the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.

April 10

Janae Quanique Giles, 22, of the 7900 block of Johnson Avenue, Lanham, and Delonte Bruce Johnson, 22, of the 6900 block of Woodstream Turn in Lanham, were found inside a vehicle in the 4400 block of 23rd parkway in Temple Hills with gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victims were taken to local hospitals where they were pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Police have learned that the victims were sitting in the car when a suspect approached the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspect produced a handgun and fired several shots at the victims in the car. After the shooting the suspect fled the scene.

April 15

Carlos Eduardo Milian, 34, of the 8600 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring was at a bus stop in the 7900 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Langley Park when the two suspects approached him, revealed a gun and demanded that Milian give them his necklace. He refused and one of the suspects shot him. Afterward, the suspects fled in a gray car. Milian was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. According to police reports the suspects' vehicle had been car jacked earlier that day in the 5600 block of Ager Road. After obtaining a description of the vehicle, patrol officers tracked the suspects to the intersection of Queens Chapel Road and Chillum Road where they were arrested. Misael Pena, 26, of the 2600 block of Kirkwood Place in Hyattsville and Henry Angulo-Gil, 31, of the 6300 block of Ager Road in Hyattsville were charged with first-degree murder. They were remanded to the Department of Corrections with no bond.

April 15

Jerrod Amahd Falls, 31, of 5600 block of Regency Park Court in Suitland was shot twice in the upper body on April 14, after he became involved in an argument with another man attending a function at the Woodlawn Recreation Center, off of Greenvale Parkway in Landover Hills. The argument escalated into a fist fight. Falls was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. A 31-year-old woman standing nearby was also shot, but was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police have obtained an arrest warrant and are searching for Dixon, 25.

April 16

Randy Alan Brooking, of the 12800 block of Redgrave Drive in Upper Marlboro, was found shot to death at the intersection of Glenarden Parkway and Brightseat Road in Lanham, Brooking, 27, suffered from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

April 20

Michael Tavon Wilson of the District was found shot to death in the 1100 block of Southview Drive in Oxon Hill. Police were called to the scene and found Wilson's body. Police have no suspect and no motive.

April 21

The body of a victim was found in the 1800 block of Village Green Drive in Hyattsville on April 21. According to police reports, officers arrived at the scene and found a man lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have identified the victim, but will not release the name until his next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

April 24

Robert Edward Gonzalez, 29, of Arlington, Va. was shot to death on University Boulevard in Adelphi. Police reported to University Boulevard around 8:12 p.m. on April 24 to investigate a reported shooting. When they arrived they found Gonzalez lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

April 29

Michael Lamont Stewart, 43, of Hilmar Drive in District Heights, and Duane Edward Nichols, 48, of Elmira Avenue in Lanham, were shot and killed on Early Oaks Lane in Capitol Heights. According to police reports at approximately 9p.m. on April 29 two men drove to the 1300 block of Early Oaks Lane and approached a man standing in the area. The man standing in the area revealed a handgun and began firing at the two men. One of the victims fled the scene and drove to a hospital where he was admitted and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The other victim, Stewart, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Hours later police received a call that another shooting victim had been found inside a house on Early Oaks Lane. The victim, Nichols, was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers received information that he was shot around the same time the other shootings occurred, and he may have been targeted. The investigation of the shootings is still ongoing.

May 6

Jose Felix Carcamo, 32, of no fixed address, was found dead about 12:30 a.m. May 6 at a Hyattsville intersection, according to Prince George's County Police, who are seeking leads in the case. Carcamo was found at the intersection of Rhode Island and Baltimore avenues with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Police are continuing their investigation and an autopsy is being performed by the medical examiner in Baltimore. May 6

Pierre Laphonso Whitney, 46, of the District was stabbed to death early May 6 in a parking lot outside a Colmar Manor restaurant, and police say the victim and others were involved in a fight in the restaurant before the stabbing. Whitney and another man were allegedly stabbed in the upper body and found in the parking lot of the restaurant located in the 3600 block of Bladensburg Road, according to a news release from Prince George's County Police, who arrived about 3:45 a.m. Both were taken to local hospitals where Whitney died later, police reports said. The second victim, whose name has not been released, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. May 10

Charlestine Mae Godbold , 38, of Clinton was found in her own backyard and the circumstances of her death are under investigation by Prince George's County Police. Police responded to a call from a resident in the 9500 block of Badger Avenue who found the woman's body on his property around 1:45 a.m. Police said the death is the result of a dispute between persons at the residence. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that Godbold had suffered severe trauma to her upper body, police said. Jerome Michael Miller, 45, of the same address, has been charged with first degree murder in connection with the homicide. Miller was Godbold's boyfriend.

May 16

Lionel Demetrius Lindsay, 45, of the District was shot to death May 16 in a Laurel apartment at about 8:30 p.m., police said. Lindsay, who had gunshot wounds to the upper body, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Eviaya Quarles, 31, of Laurel turned himself into police after he allegedly shot Lindsay while in his apartment in the 8800 block of Hawthorne Lane. Lindsay approached Quarles, showed a handgun and threatened him, police said. Quarles drew his own handgun and shot him, police said. Cpl. Diane Richardson, a police spokeswoman, could not say why Lindsay was in Quarles' apartment. Quarles has been charged with manslaughter and possession of a handgun, police said. He turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said. He was remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro with $150,000 bond.

May 17

Katherine Borum Parkman, 64, was found unconscious in the 5000 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Edmonston, Prince George's County Police reported. Police said when they responded to a call from a resident in the same block about at 11:30 p.m., they found Parkman unconscious with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Police detectives believe the victim knew the suspect, however, no motive has been established for the slaying.

May 25

Nathaniel Banks Jones, 49, of 6500 block of Gateway Boulevard in District Heights was shot to death shortly after midnight May 25 after getting into an argument with his brother, police said. Officers responded to the home for the report of the shooting and found Jones suffering from a gunshot would to his upper body. Police said that the two began arguing prior to the shooting. His brother Bobby Banks Jones, 51, of the same address was charged with first-degree murder.

May 25

Samuel D'Costa, 36, of Beltsville was found dead in the basement of a home off 9th Street in Old Town Bowie by a builder on May 25, police said. D'Costa was a real estate agent and may have been trying to sell the home in was in. He had been missing for two days. Police said he was shot twice in his upper body and left in the basement as the suspect or suspects stole his vehicle.

May 26

Desmond Leon Edmundson, 32, of Capitol Heights was found fatally shot near Glenarden on May 26, police said. No arrests have been made in the case, but detectives said suspects in two vehicles drove by the front yard where Edmundson and a juvenile were standing and began firing. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital with injuries that considered non life-threatening.

May 28

Chauncey Harold Jones, 46, of the 3600 block of 24th Avenue in Temple Hills was shot to death shortly after 2 a.m. on May 28, according to police.Police responded to the shooting in the area of the home and found Jones inside his house with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to Prince George's County Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His brother-in-law Frederick Louis Gwyn, 67, of the same address, was arrested at the scene and charged with manslaughter. Police say they two became involved in an argument before the shooting.

June

June 1

Darryl Anderson, 32, of the 10300 block of Marlboro Woods Drive in Upper Marlboro was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body at about 7 p.m. on June 1 in the 2500 block of Olson Street in Temple Hills, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have no suspects and no motives.

June 6

Jermaine Lamont Smith, 30, of the 9700 block of Dorval Avenue in Clinton was found shot in the upper body around 3 a.m. on June 6 after police responded to reports of shots fired in that area, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department. Police have no suspects and no information on a possible vehicle leaving the scene, Copeland said. Police are still searching for a motive.
