Elections for the mayor and four council members in the City of Rockville are held every two years.

The 2013 mayoral race features two candidates: Councilwoman Bridget Newton and Councilman Mark Pierzchala. Six candidates are seeking four council seats. They are Beryl L. Feinberg, Donald H. Hadley, Councilman Tom Moore, Virginia Onley, Julie Palakovich Carr and Claire Marcuccio Whitaker.

Residents will also vote on proposed changes to the city’s charter. The charter questions, which deal with changes to the city’s election process, are on the ballot as advisory referenda. The Nov. 5 vote is nonbinding, and the mayor and council have the final say in whether to make any changes to the charter. Voters can vote yes, no or no opinion.
