Labor Day Festival an enduring part of Greenbelt tradition

From its humble beginnings as a community fundraiser, the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival has grown into one of the largest volunteer-run festivals in the region, annually attracting about 10,000 visitors, event organizers say. Since its conception in 1955, the Labor Day Festival has been a volunteer-run event, said Wayne Williams, festival committee historian and 43-year Greenbelt resident.
